If he was nothing special he would've been made irrelevant and replaced by someone who was less of a prick.
They tried Jason Derulo, it kinda worked but he had to appeal to a different, less R&B more pop audience, and he doesn't really have a fanbase, he just has hit singles. They tried reviving Omarion's career, he couldn't get a hit without a Chris Brown feature. Pretty much every major label has signed a young black singing and dancing kid to try and dethrone Chris Brown. Never works.
