I got drunk and wanted some neat background music. Evan Parker or Agusti Fernandez didn't quite cut it. Don't judge me!

It was fun. I didn't give SILY a proper listen so i can't Really compare, but i actually enjoyed it. I also liked Frankie Sinatra

Well. I see albums by those bands 24/7 in this board. So I guess they are good bands to listen to if you want to have /mu/taste.
>>
>>66431252
You should try actually listening to the albums and forming your own opinion instead of blindly being a contrarian.
>>
>>66431197
Everyone was shitting in it. So i thought it was going to be bad

>>66431281
Assumptions! Next you'll tell me to listen to Radiohead and Kanye "just because they are posted a lot on this board".

Expand your taste beyond Electric Wizard, fellow posters!

Kalmah > Bodom
>>
>>66431340
I've never actually seen Electric Wizard on this board, but I got the album from checking the RYM top charts so I'll accept that.

/mu/core is such because they're really good albums meant as an entryway to their respective genres. I don't usually like metal, but Dopethrone struck a chord with me so I'll be looking further into Doom Metal and that genre.

The rest is because I thoroughly enjoy Animal Collective, Xiu Xiu, and NMH.
>>
>>66431339
Yeah but that happens with every popular new release around here. The Avalanches have been my favorite band for a long time so I'm kind of just waiting for all the memes to die down now, even though the Frankie Sinatra copypasta was pretty funny the first few times around.

How many times have you listened to Wildflower? I know it's cliche to say, but multiple listens really make The Avalanches work grow on you because of how heavily layered all their songs are; you find new melodies intertwined every time. Also definitely check out SILY if you have the time, it's incredible and is much more cohesive than Wildflower.

>>66431340
You should listen to Radiohead and Kanye, they're posted a lot on this board.

The way /mu/core was decided upon was they were albums that were commonly discussed and collectively agree'd upon to be great albums.

"Mucore" isn't a list or a guide, it's a therm that means anything widely talked about here
>>

>You should listen to Radiohead and Kanye, they're posted a lot on this board.
I did that a couple of years ago. I still prefer Ken Vandermark, Roscoe Mitchell, Tyshawn Sorey, Agusti Fernandez and Barry Guy.

>>66431375
You think so? Gimme some Kalmah releases that can rival Something Wild/Hatebreeder/Follow the Reaper. I do admit that I'm awfully ignorant of Kalmah.

>>66431463
Cant comment on your taste, too avant-garde for me.

>>66431482
I wonder if you're in an adventurous mood. If you dig Lee Morgan, you must check out Peter Evans - Zebulon.

You obviously had a thing for heroin fueled virtuosity this week. Have you checked out Cecil Taylor's mid-late 1950s albums? Namely, Jazz Advance, Looking Ahead! and Love for Sale.

>>66431969
Nice. Continuing on the topic of instumental virtuosity, what about Jimmy Giuffre? I recently listened to Emphasis & Flight, Live at Graz and Free Fall, which only semented Giuffre as an underrated musician.

>>66432012
>Please be ironic
Nigger I'm not a city boy. Avant-garde = too advanced for me. I just listen to free improvisation and free jazz. I don't follow the pop or rock scene.

Swamplord is pure vomit. Heritance of Berija is a decent song, but everything else is so boring. They do have some good albums, but Bodom is still better (unless you don't like Groove metal, then their stuff after Hate Crew will be meaningless to you).
