I thought it was overly manipulative of the audience's emotions. The "misunderstood genius who is rude to everyone" character just seems like a cheap way to get audience sympathy for a one-dimensional character (see also: Ender's Game). The film's only mood is anger or irritation, no substantial subplots or side characters. I also thought it jumped the shark with the climax and the car crash. Like, the audience is supposed to be mad and angry that this car crash happened and the kid is supposed to run over and play anyway or else his life will be ruined, but that's such an unrealistic and ridiculous scenario. The ending is also rushed and feels kinda anticlimactic.

It's one of those movies like Snowpiercer where I kinda liked it when I saw it and like it less and less the more I think about it.

It's still overall well made, even if I don't like the story.
