I think a big problem with rap is that it's probably the hardest genre of music to get into. You literally have to learn not only the history of rap music itself, but also an entire ethnicity's culture, rap culture, and sometimes even popular culture to even be capable of understanding any of the context within a phrase, let alone an entire album. I honestly can't think of a single genre that shares this entrance problem.

Maybe this album just isn't for you, OP. Though, if you aren't already into hip-hop/rap, this is a terrible starting place.
I recommend you start by listening to rap that has beats you enjoy. Once you start getting a decent portfolio of artists that you like based solely off that, start drifting to more challenging stuff that forces you to focus on lyrics/concepts, and branch off from there.
