Everyone is talking about a period in a band's existence, but I understood this in reference to things like......

The Smiths 1982-1987
Joy Division 1976-1980

Both bands had major impact for how long they were around.

Sex Pistols

Hank Williams changed the face of country in only 6 years.

Some could argue he created country music, and everything previous was either bluegrass or western swing.

There's some other artists in the time period who may have inspired him, such as Tex Ritter or Jimmie Davis, but Hank largely set the tone for country music over the next 3-4 Decades.

Nirvana I'd like to think

Not a fan, but I can't disagree.
>>
Charlie Christian. Single-handedly popularized the electric guitar. 2-3 years.
>>
>>66331952
No it didn't, it went from '66 to '69 then reformed briefly in '70 but Hendrix died before anything happened.
>>
Justin Bieber.
