El Vacio Del Gaucho (2015) was composed over several months and, while recorded 'live' (simultaneously) it has overdubs and some studio trickery.
Our jam albums Zapadas vol 1 and 2 are selections of completely raw recordings and 100% improvised music made just for fun but are pretty nice albums in themselves. Then there's the debut self titled album from 2012.

Seance is pretty much done. Just repairing my Teac 4010s tape machine so I can do a proper mixdown. Gotta replace a belt and reset a tension arm. This thing is from '67 so it's old as fuck and a total pain in the ass, but the wow/flutter alone makes it essential to this LP being completed.
Listened to your stuff on headphones the other day and it transported me.

I like your EP name, it's pretty cool. Blacklight is also a great drone track. For being essentially static, it's changing and richly textured and very interesting. I feel the same way about Whir. Immediately listened to "get over it charlie brown" because I've had so many nicknames in relation to my name. I think it'd be super cool if the guitar was plucked lighter and the vocals were quieter because I imagine the track could get away with a more intimate feel. Your opening track is good, but I bet you could get a better take with some more consistent velocity and timing. I'm not sure if the quavering in your voice was intentional or not. I disagree with some of your production choices, but I really dig what you're doing. Keep working hard (then work harder) and getting better and you'll sound great.

Fantastic as always, man. Your bass is really great in the intro but I feel like the floor toms snuff it out at times. This song has an amazing sense of progression, pace, and timing. The break at the three minute mark is refreshing. The pause around 5:30 is also super interesting. Can't wait to hear the new album! Absolutely fantastic work man.

Elephant Seal sounds really cool, but it's tough to grasp with how little form there is. Green is a good track. The vocals are really cool, but could be mixed a little louder. The guitar seems just slightly off at places, too. Catrin is great, I really enjoy it. The brevity of the first three tracks is actually really interesting, especially in contrast to the fourth track. I appreciate building melodies into the structure of the rhythm guitar. If you're not paying attention, it sounds like it doesn't go anywhere, but it really does (which is one of the things I appreciate about ambient and drone). Fantastic stuff.

Ivy is a cool track. Your instrumentation and songwriting is super solid and I dig it. I enjoy emo and math rock and this is a great blend of the two. I wish I knew more about the blend of those genres. I could almost see the second chorus going a bit harder in the first part, but it's still fantastic work but the second half/bridge makes up for that and it's all cool.

Yeah, you're right. It was recorded on an iPhone. I never really intended for the quality to be great or anything. And believe me, I don't really know what was going on either. I've just added one more track, an older one from my archive... last year I formed a short shoegaze band with a female friend (hoping to get her to do vocals, but things didnt work out). Anyway I think its one of the best songs on this double album.

Slacker core guitar reminds me of warbley melodies a la Mac Demarco. Vocals are sort of drab, reminds me more of an artist named Jerry Paper. album is supposed to be out around september 1st, it's almost complete except for one song that's giving me lots of problems, but i have plenty of time to work on that. im hoping to be able to promote it in other places [as well as here ofc] to build up hype for it.
expect a song from the album to drop in late july/early august, depending how things go. im a little worried it might not be very well recieved, its a big change from my EP and i dont want to alienate any fans.

don't feel down buddy, it took me a while to learn as well and you sort of just come up with your own style. if you enjoy the music you make, that's whats important. i struggle with anxiety thinking that my music is shit, but since i released my album, all ive gotten is praise and unexpected positivity. i know it sounds cheesy but you just have to believe in yourself, and if it's something that you really want to do, just go for it, experiment and express yourself! i believe in you baby.

thanks so much for the kind words and the listen! this kind of positivity is what keeps my going. i agree that my vocals are pretty drab but im such an incompetent singer that i was afraid to try and sound good, i just sort of slapped them on there in a sort of way that fit the music.

I know, I just want something I can be happy with enough to release. People here, even with the lo-fi aesthetics I see, are still able to produce a pretty well made and mixed track. It blows my mind. Maybe I am just not for this because I just make a crap track and get bummed and frustrated, and then go on to the next. Whenever I feel like I improve I look back at it and I immediately kinda hate it again. I've been at it for over 2 years and I can't think of one song I've actually thought was better than bad. I've been doing my thing for coming up on five years and I still get frustrated with how much garbage I make. Don't get down on yourself. Before you get to mixing and recording you have to have good source material (your songs). That other anon's right, not everyone likes our stuff, but I enjoy my time here both as a fan and seeing other fans enjoy others' stuff and my own. You're going to make turds before you make tolerable stuff before you make decent stuff before you make good stuff and one day you'll be able to make great stuff.

I have at least two or three hours of material that will never see the light of day. You've probably seen the "rip off your favorite artists to get better" advice. Go ahead and do it. It's all about learning and constant improvement. I make good ambient music, but I suck ass compared to others. I play an acceptable bass, but I'm shit compared to most people. You'll always sorta hate everything you've done in the past, but that means that you can at least evaluate why you don't like it, learn from it, and get better. Always finish your shit, though. Make a fully realized track utilizing what you know and what you're learning. Try to make something you'd want to listen to, really flesh it out, and then go from there. Sure my singer can touch up a bass part, but it's better for me and easier for him if I get the perfect take twice. One two-minute song we had took us three or four days (so maybe fifteen to twenty hours if not more) to just record, then a week or two to mix, and two or three weeks to master. Work diligently and focus on constant improvement and stay positive and you will improve anon.
