Where should I start of with Aphex Twin?
don't
overrated
You can start by throwing it in the trash lmao

Let the old guard die out

Is there something wrong with the beginning?
The Richard D. James Album.

>>66223326
>>66223324
Fucking faggots
Start with SAW if you like ambient otherwise go straight to RDJ album
Ignore trolls
Selected Ambient Works 85-92 for more melodic and chill. Richard D James for more experimental.
>>66223331
Who is the new guard?
>>66223394
>>66223394
Meme shit
>>66223394
Arca and OPN
And then the plebs can argue about the rest it doesn't really matter though
>>66223411
oh, you mean the guy who blantantly lifts from the "old guard"? k
We are the freshman class of /mu/ and we think that Aphex Twin sucks. It's on its way out.
>>66223432
>Arca, OPN, James Ferraro, the list could go on....
>>66223441
It wasn't funny the last time you posted it either you gigantic faggot
With their first album, like you would any other artist.
>>66223479
>>66223457
Take that fat McDonald's meme man out of that list now
>>66223331
this is such a dumb way of thinking
>>66223308
I'm not a fan of his music by any means, but his ambient stuff is actually really nice. Selected Ambient Works 85-92 is a great place to start if you want a more chill Aphex Twin.
Although after that, I don't really know. I'm not a big IDM guy.
>>66223499
OPN?
>>66223522
I'll admit I kekked
>>66223479
as if it isn't true. you can't be cool on the internet by holding on to your music and proclaiming it great forever.
>>66223589
What the fuck are you talking about? I guarantee RDJs worst project is better than whatever "new guard" shit you listen to
syro was better than garden of delete and mutant so...
>>66223623
this desu
>>66223642
>trying to state facts in the presence of memelords
Shit son that's not going to work
>>66223394
NICO JAAR
>>66223394
>SAW I
If you're into the best IDM record ever outside of boards
>RDJ
If you want to shit bricks it's too good
>SAW II
Ambient for days
>>66223308
Selected Ambient Works Volume II.
Start There.
Stop There.
The rest is all just fart noises.
>>66223877
saw 85-92 is ambient techno. just call it what it is.
>>66223457
I love arca, opn and nicolas jaar but you have to respect the founders of the genre and their influences. If you listen to that without listening to/understanding the value of aphex, boards, autechre, squarepusher, mu-ziq, etc. then you're not a real electronic fan. only a fucking poser
>>66223936
>founders of the genre
uh, what genre?
Depends on what you're into since his style varies so heavily. I'm certain there is a 'guide to aphex twin' out there.
My personal favourite is drukqs, with its drum programming and synth bananery.
I Care Because You Do and SAW I are more chilled out.
SAW II is beautiful and is best listened to without distraction.
Analord is mostly really simple analog tunes, gets better with more listens. Took me a long time to get into it, but I revisit it pretty often now.
The Tuss is a really nice side project.
Top songs:

>Ziggomatic V17

It's another "AFX, BoC and Autechre INVENTED electronic music" episode
>>66223989
>subgenres of post-00s electronic
pick one
>>66224033
i mean, you could have specified, cause it looked like you were saying that they invented electronic music.
in fact, i don't think any of them invented anything. they just built of of established dance genres.
>>66224071
agree to disagree <3
excuse me while I go listen to rdj and jack it
>>66224129
what genres did he invent
i guess you could maybe argue that he helped bring drill n bass (which really just built off of jungle/dnb) into the spotlight, but that subgenre hasn't been relevant since the mid-2000s. this doesn't take away from his influence, talent, or creativity, he just didn't pioneer a whole genre.
>>66223308
analord
>>66224202
He was just very ahead of the times. Didgeridoo sounds like a combo of psytrance and jungle, despite being released before those were around (Okay, about he same time as jungle started)
Surfing On Sine Waves
>>66223308
start with SAW 1
