Because prog just gets me off more, and I'm not about to discount some of the best music of the 60's and 70's because it's "dadrock bullshit." I'm not sure what to tell you. I think you're looking at music more for it's context than what it actually achieves.
If you really want my criticism, I think parts of the Velvet Underground & Nico are partially dated by some of the phrasing and expressions on there, namely, "Severin! Severin!" from Venus In Furs, where Lou ends up sounding extremely 1967. That and Run Run Run in general ends up sounding dangerously close to Bob Dylan, which, sorry, is never a good thing for me. At any rate, I gave it 91/100, so it's not like I don't still see it as a fantastic record or something.
