What's the difference between normal psychedelic music and psychedelic pop?
all psychedelic pop is psychedelic music, but not all psychedelic music is psychedelic pop
simple. phasers and flangers or something.
>psych-pop : psych music I want to devalue
>psych : psych music I want to hold up as "legitimate"
Does plain "psychedelic" music even exist? Isn't it an adjective to denote a variation of already existing genres (like rock and pop)?

no, not at all

psych rock seems more similar to prog jams and psych pop seems more similar to dream pop
at least that how I tell it apart

>Psychedelic music attempted to replicate the hallucinogenic experience of using these drugs or enhance the experience of using them
Wow the 60s must have been a really creatively limited era if those boring ass guitar riffs were the closest thing musicians could get to replicating/enhancing drug trips. We've come a long way.

psychedelic music is all that wants to recreate drugs in music, it can be cocaine, or more "soft" drugs like Marijuana. mostly one difference between psychedelic pop and, lets say, psychedelic whatever else is that psychedelic pop takes more "value" in vocal melodies (oddesey and oracle, sgt pepper, pet sounds) and for example psychedelic rock in guitars and instrumentals (maggot brain, hendrix, most of prog rock)
