Blurryface is more than just a simple selection of songs. It is an experience that is meant to be heard from front to back. While most artists only care about their top 40 singles, 21 Pilots said "Fuck all of that" and put time and effort into literally every song here. You just don't see this much care put into a complete package these days. I liken Blurryface the 70's rock CDs like Dark Side of the Moon and Abbey Road. Those were meant to be listened to all the way through, and so is Blurryface. For that, I give 21 Piliots a 10/10.... this is the best damn thing to happen to music since Nirvana....

\I've been a 21P fan for a couple years now. I saw them live a year or so ago and was incredibly impressed by their passion and energy, as well as their creativity in staging the show.
I really really like Blurryface. It definitely has a huge variety of song styles, maybe even moreso than Vessel did (and Vessel was stuffed pretty full of different styles). I agree that Doubt is probably the most different of anything on the album, but I think it fits in well with the rest of the album. Lyrically especially, it's very much in line with their usual content. But even the processed nature of the chorus vocals isn't that far away from the end of Heavydirtysoul, for example.
One of the big changes I see in this album from Vessel are the lyrics about the music industry and the lack of creativity in pop music. There were lyrics to this effect on Vessel as well ("lyrics that mean nothing, we were gifted with thought" from Holding on to You comes to mind), but I felt like there was an increased presence on Blurryface. I would guess this has to do with the band's increased popularity and therefore increased expectations/demands from labels. One examples is "don't trust a perfect person and don't trust a song that's flawless" from Lane Boy.
I really like the multiple styles because it really feels like they're making music that they are interested in. One of the things I think 21P fans really like about the band is their sincerity. I think the band themselves are very aware of that reputation and that the struggle with industry expectations ties in to that.
Honestly, I'd be happy with anything that they put out as long as it's what they want to do. I love how much they experiment with styles and genres. It just feels like they try really hard on all of their songs, and as long as they keep capturing that sense, I would literally listen to any musical style they wanted to do.
