Eh, Autechre are still doing some crazy shit with fm synthesis and granular/delay modulation that I really don't hear anywhere else. I think they're still pretty relevant in the realm of post-club music.
Aphex is clearly just releasing tunes for $$$ and laugh. I don't think it's so serious though I agree the attention this release is getting is a bit baffling.
