The songwriting might still be under her direction, but the presentation doesn't appear to be. This video and song just reeks of outside input. It's similarity to Forgiven/Forgotten (one of two sings off BYFFNW) is a tell that she's being pushed/or willingly led in a direction that allows for a wider audience. In other words, they're after cash this time around.
She has a decent sized discography and BYFFNW is the only one people seem aware of, not that she's that well known. Someone invested time and money for her to create that output, and now it's time to bring in a return.
Bear in mind too, the other song released from this new album is completely different from her other stuff. The industry does this with label artists all the time. They build up their output then get them dressed up for market, and whatever sells sells, and whatever doesn't gets put in the trash. I mean is it a necessarily bad thing? No, a girl's got to eat.

Most semi-art/art "pop" performers are doing this persona shit right now. It's not even anything new. Pop music has always been about building a persona around the performer that differs from who they actually are.
She's only buying into market trends by doing this.
I want to hear this album in full before I make more judgments on the sound/songwriting than I already have. Just relistened to Intern and I'll agree that she's doing something good here. This new one just hasn't grown on me yet.
