guitar is based on the vibration of a real string. Its partially acoustic. The most important part, the generating of the sound, is acoustic. Everything else is effects and amplification.

This makes the electric guitar a hybrid acoustic/electric instrument. When people say "electronic instruments" its unlikely they're meaning electric guitar.

Theremin on the other hand uses 2 Oscillators to generate a tone. Completely electronic instruments dont have any acoustic component.
