CD, Vinyl, Digital download, Tapes, Etc..
I pay for streaming, but I also dig through the cd bin when my local community radio station has a rejected demo tape sale. It's always carefully labeled with the reviewer's notes, I love it.

3. digital download as an absolute last resort (in lossless, of course)
CD. Reasons:
- 16-bit lossless
- Compact (duh)
- Doesn't degrade as easily (vinyls are fucked if scratched for example, a CD is not)
- Usually a decent price (sometimes cheaper than the mp3 version, sometimes not)
- Easy to rip to mp3s
- I like to physically collect them

OP here: I like CD's too. I take surveys online for points that I can redeem for amazon gift card money and I use that to fund my CD collection.
CD's if I ever buy music. I actually think vinyl sounds worse.
I've always liked CDs most.
I tried getting into vinyl but the pricing is retarded. I like tapes too, but it's a little gimmicky and not many people are doing interesting things with the format.
Records and pirating the digital download like a real patrician
If you know what youre doing with records, youll never pay much more than for the CD unless youre obsessed with buying special pressings

You can also choose to cash in for real money thru paypal. But the thing is you can't be honest with your surveys or else you'll never qualify for any. I've found the best profile among to tell surveys is: "Male 35-50 years old, household income $125000-150000 per year, works full time, does all the shopping himself." This qualifies me for most surveys. And then don't take too long to answer the questions or else it'll take too long to rack up points.
