are these guys geniuses?
>>66084827
shut the fuck off kiddo...
opn and arca are great. i don't get dean blunt and james ferraro is a meme
arca is really good...
you shouldn't group him in with the other guys tho. entirely different.
>>66084859
>james ferraro is a meme
nice meme
OPN and Ferraro are the geniuses of this list. Dean Blunt is pretty mediocre and Arca is garbage compared to the other 3.
>>66084827
they all deserve to be the meme that you've turned them into, espeically ferraro
>>66084890
yeah he's japanese
>>66084930
what? he's brazilian dude
>>66084859
ferraro's legit tho
what did he mean by this?
>>66084977
yeah he's japanese
>>66084859
dean blunt is lo fi art pop. I like him personally just because of his ambiguity. new album sucked. but overall he seems like a smart guy who is neutral on everything
>>66085024
when I saw him live he wore that same hat. neato
>>66085048
>new album sucked
spotted the pleb
OPN > Arca > Fememro > Blunt
>>66085079
the concept was brilliant but the music itself was meh
the previous two mixtapes was better. even these new "throwaways" are much betterhttps://soundcloud.com/urbansocialmedialounge/babyfather-1010
enjoyed HS3 honestly. got a good feeling arca's new album is gonna be amazing
buddy of mine saw him live and the tracks sounded amazing
>>66085111
opn has been meh also
>>66085111
you guys need to stop shitting on Blunt
his next project will blow everyone else out the fucking water
>>66085155
hey dean ;)
>>66085155
Been hearing that since BM. I don't see it.
>>66085155
none of them can be compared and they have all worked together.
OPN is this generation's APHEX Twin
Ferraro is an genius pop culture based composer
Blunt is ironic art social commentary
Arca is gay autechre
>>66085263
OPN and James warrant comparison imo
>>66085129
new arca?
LP3 WHEN?
>>66085263
>OPN is this generation's APHEX Twin
this comparison doesn't work either
I feel like Elisya Crampton is going to be the next meme Ferraro t b q h
>he beauty of Far Side Virtual was that Ferraro never tipped his hand; whether the album was intended as a sincere homage to or cutting sendup of elevator music was left unsaid, at least on the record itself. Human Story 3, on the other hand, puts too fine a point on its critique. Its constant barrage of verbal rubbish makes the record feel something like a less artful, album-length version of Radiohead’s “Fitter Happier”.
>>66085024
>see you in the weird frontier, kiddo
>>66085428
typical p4k
HS3 makes FSV sound like fruity loops amateur shite
>>66085405
In terms of output and future influence I think so.
even his joke project has inspired vaporwave. whether its good or not. he's a legend already
>>66085346
mm nah maybe you can convince me otherwise. but I still think their opposite
>>66085411
"her" music is pretty fucking nice and tmt seems to be pushing her work pretty hard, i could see it happening
>>66085428
>p4k
lel
>>66085516
nah /mu/ and even the p4k crowd won't be down with elysia
she doesn't play ball with the pity me crowd. even while being transgender
new album is really good tho
>>66085479
Nobody listens to Ferraro because he's a talented musician, they listen to him because he often has something interesting to say. And what he says on HS3 is trite and cliched, leaving us with a half decent neo-classical record.
>>66085593
>Nobody listens to Ferraro because he's a talented musician
speak for yourself I think he's a pretty talented musician
>>66085516
"Her" "new" album/reissue was covered by The Wire too in the last issue I think, and 'she' makes music for millenials by millenials so some people like us can relate to it, I guess
>>66085593
kek
You literally just read the p4k review and summed it up in your own words
I don't know
>>66085263
>OPN is this generation's APHEX Twin
>>66087002
he's right
>>66087002
good taste in comics, poor taste in music
>>66084977
>>66085040
*chilean
>>66085263
I met OPN this past May at a festival he was playing at. Shook his hand and told him that he's doing what Aphex Twin was doing in the 90s. He was really thankful. Cool guy. Great show.
Glad other people feel this way too.
>>66087043
He has made brilliant music but I don't know if he's broken totally new ground like Richard did in the 90s
>>66085365
he confirmed it but no release date yet
>>66085263
>>66087043
name a OPN song with remarkable melody that isn't Replica
good melodies are one of Richard's strongest suit and Daniel simply doesn't have it
>>66088098
I'm just gonna point you to R + 7
Plenty of great melodies on that project
>>66088133
I disagree, it has fantastic sound design but the melodies aren't remarkable at all
Big Jimmy is overrated imho. Listened to Far Side Virtual, Skid Row, Human Story and they're all not my thing. Skid Row was the best one.
>>66088098
>dude melody lmao
>>66088186
If you liked Skid Row listen to NYC
Ferraro is incredibly versatile so most of his stuff doesn't have a similar "sound"
>>66088170
have you listened to Garden of Delete? I know everybody says R + 7 is his magnum opus but imo GOD features his best work by far
>>66084827
ferraro is a conceptual genius
dean is worthless musically he has cool concepts tho
opn is boring and conceptually poor
arca is a cool guy with a nice aesthetic but his music is garbage
>>66088318
hi james
when am I getting my damn cassette?
>>66088348
when we awake from this capitalist hell fever dream
>>66088240
well memed, sir
>>66088283
yeah i really liked it i don't know how I would rank his discography but it's definitely on top 3
his synth stuff really appeals to me though, this is my favorite opn:

>>66088348
>le hs3 scam meme
http://thetalkhouse.com/daniel-lopatin-oneohtrix-point-never-talks-kenny-gs-brazilian-nights/
have you read this? lmao
>>66084827
Ferraro is great conceptually and is often also great at putting those concepts into his music, it's just that his music often isn't for me
Blunt is similar but far less successful in executing his concepts in music, a good bit less versatile, and a bit simpler
Lopatin is unironically the RDJ of this decade
Arca is a great sound designer and showed potential to make some good stuff on Mutant but honestly will probably never reach the same heights he did as a hip hop producer
>>66088710
fucking nailed
Although I do think Arca hasn't even begun to hit his peak yet but I've only listened to Xen and Mutant
>>66088710
>>66088752
Hopefully since has worked with bjork and dean blunt. his songwriting skills will improve on this next album
>>66088752
you definitely should go back and listen to Arca's earlier stuff. I don't even care much for hip hop but he consistently hit the nail on the head with everything he did then, unlike bow where he just shows some good ideas occasionally and then moves on to another batch of songs that have nothing going for them other than insane sound design.
>>66088792
that and he did improve from Xen on Mutant, so who knows. I think he may be past his prime, but you can't be sure.
I think Dean Blunt gets kind of dogpiled on in these threads. Sure, some of his solo stuff isn't fantastic, but Hype Williams was consistently pretty brilliant imo.
>>66088859
I'm not even sure if his sound design was all that great on Mutant. Parts of it sounded pretty preset-y.
>>66088889
does he have any projects where he doesn't include his own voice?
That's mainly what turns me off about Dean, the lazy "singing" if that's what you want to call it
>>66088889
nah it's fine. dean's solo work is uneasy to digest. I used to hate his stuff until I started paying attention to the samples and references .
it's similar to visiting an art gallery
>>66088925
his voice is a copycat of smog.
listen to hype williams
>>66088906
I thought it was mostly still pretty great. I really liked the two tracks with that pseudo-harpsichord sound.
>>66088925
also tbf he hates his voice himself. he didn't even start using it until the breakup with inga.
>>66088948
thanks anon
just started listening to Untitled
>>66088970
really? why the hell does he insist on doing it then?
>>66089013
Because he took a chance using it. and has somewhat "made" it.
He's more famous for DB than HW even tho HW is much better. he's really good at acting like he Doesn't give a fuck. There's some poetry reading of him saying he rather sellout than be starving again
>>66085593
>a half decent neo-classical record
You're a posturing pseud who name-drops genres of art he has no familiarity with.
>>66088318
>I treat music like a fashion accessory
>>66088318
FUCK OFF FERRARO WE ALL KNOW IT'S YOU
>>66089792
dean getting roasted
>>66090238
Clearly a bait thread.
>>66084827
Forgetting someone?
>>66090753
I ask this every time one of you memer's bring him up: what is so forward-thinking, creative, or innovative about his instrumentals?
The truth is that they are entirely derivative.
>>66090815
"no"
>>66090959
lol and every time, y'all cannot give a valid answer. Pretty much sums up the DG fanbase.
Am I the only one who enjoys the DJ Escrow character? That seems to be the main complaint about BBF but I like that he's sort of like an updated, British version of Lord Quas - lending a bit of an "interactive" component to the record. Could also just be that I've met plenty of wannabe roadman like that though...
>>66084827
Arca and OPN are excellent probably my most listened to artists at the present 2bh.
>>66088098
Chrome country(?)
Arca is shit
>>66093417
fuck off
>>66094141
He's shit
>>66084930
Don't be homophobic, he's gay
is there a word for what r+7 and human story 3 sound like? Nursery Rhyme ass beats
opn is just spiegal, isham, luther adams, and lansky for plebs
>>66096845
shit
>>66096845
library music-esque
