>having an average of like 3.8
absolutely disgusting. You shove everything that you like into 3 meager spots - 5.0, 4.5, and 4.0, and yet everything you don't like gets to spread out into 6 spacious slots of 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, and 3.0.
Who cares about the difference between something you dislike a little and something you dislike a medium amount. You only get 10 rating slots, use those to differentiate between the records you spend time with, the ones you like, the ones that affect you. Let them have some breathing room, let your 5s have space to really stand out and be special.
old music is hard

>what can I say
take more risks, you'll find great stuff that way
>>66071647
You really have hardly anything from before the 2000s. What are your favorite bands? Why not try and find out some of their influences, and listen to albums from them? You can post them here and someone might help you, or try and trawl their wikipedia pages.
Without knowing what kind of music you like, the best I can do is to suggest just going through the top of the RYM charts for each decade, that's sure to give you plenty of great music that is part of the canon.
>>66071771
I do occasionally.
Not often enough though.
Found a 90's funk album that I adore now that way.
Had no others rates on RYM till I rated it.
That being said if something doesn't at least slightly interest me upon starting it I usually wont finish it, and thus wont rate it.
I care more about recording what I did like then what I don't, know what I mean?
>>66071724
When I rated it I was rating it in relation to the time period in which it was released.
However I just started going back through my rates and doing them all on personal enjoyment purely.
I might move it down to a 3 or 3.5 accordingly.
let's try to make this thread less useless
post stuff you rated from 1956
>>66071836
fuck off you filthy tripcode user
>>66071836
I have nothing from that year :(
>>66071830
Wew that's quite the score move but cool.

Half of "good, entry level albums" in general are from the 60's and 70's. Check out the sticky or RYM's overall top albums.

I recommend it if you like those 'non music' records
>>66071872
oh
>>66071932
whats the quintet like
>>66071874
Well music from that era is just not going to be quite as interesting imo.
Not until the 30's or 40's I'd say is there songs that can compete with later decades.
So, to be fair to the music from that year, I tried to balance the rates for what was good for the time comparatively.
Now though I'm scratching that and just going off of what I like.
Regardless of artistic merit or any other things and just off of if I like it or not.
>>66072004
That year I can do
But I have only one song there
