I live in Venice, KCRW was based out of my community college... Met a lot of the staff and some of the DJs, all seemed like genuine fans of music were happy to talk and recommend albums with a simple student like myself... Jason Bentley is a bit of a fuckhead I hear, but don't see the problem with it being car tier radio or even becoming a member, heard lots of good world music etc.. shit I would have never discovered otherwise. Live music guest performances have been great.

Honestly that comment was anecdotal at best, but one of my co-workers was his former neighbor and just told me he's very kurt and unkind. Mentioned that Jason would power wash his driveway everymorning and go on to preach about California's terrible drought and our water mindfulness as a community etc.. Things like that, maybe he's a good guy. Grain of salt. In my opinion is radio personality seems a little fake/commercial, but I don't think the music he picks sucks by any stretch... think he does a great job speaking and directing the show when live artists are present.
