What the best Cure album to start with?
With their first album like you would with any other artist.

Seventeen Seconds

Is that the easiest album to get into?

Honestly, this is a meme answer, but it's true
Disintegration/Pornography for long goth-rock epics
The Head on the Door and their singles compilation for short catchy pop masterpieces.
Pornography

Ignore everyone the only good album is disintegration.
Also the smiths are way better.

(not true, by-the-way!)

Disintegration > Faith > Pornography
Disintegration definitely
Honestly, start with the two singles overviews Standing on The Beach (aka Staring at the Sea) and Galore to decide which era you like the sound of best, and choose accordingly. For some people it would be easier to start with their Goth Rock phase like Faith and Pornography, which are two of their best albums but very daunting to some, while others would find something like The Head on The Door to be easier to get into.
There's probably a chart for this somewhere

This and go album to album.
for new wave dance pop, I prefer New Order.
For romantic, moany music, The Smiths are obviously better.
For goth, I STRONGLY prefer Bauhaus
They also remind me a lot of The Psychedelic Furs, who are also far superior
I do commend them for influencing The Jesus and Mary Chain and the Grave Babies, both of whom far surpass them.
In Between Days is a very nice song, though
the head on the door is easy to get into
IT DOESN'T MATTER IF WE ALL DIE.

Ignore everyone in this thread and listen to Pornography.
