They're a great entry level band, but if you seriously consider them your favourite after your college years, then that tells me you're missing out on much better stuff.

Depends on what you like about Radiohead. If you like their production from their Kid A /Amnesiac era the most like me, check out Burial and Caribou, then try Aphex Twin, Autechre, or other artists on the Warp or Rephlex label.

hard for you to understand it's possible to see through the overinflated acclaim drivel that radiohead's rather mediocre music hides behind?

(a) post anonymously you piece of shit
(b) post anonymously you piece of shit
(c) i was talking about his prose not his point
(d) actually he was pretty far off. i can think of at least two radiohead albums that were pretty much panned, yet in both cases people saw the great music through the panning. for that matter people found a way to love KoL even though it got a lukewarm reception.
(e) radiohead may be overrated but they are not mediocre. muse is mediocre. coldplay is mediocre. you can't seriously argue that radiohead is not significantly better than those kinds of bands
(f) post anonymously you piece of shit

You remind me of every dumbass poster on 4chan.

The guy was right. Someone asked for recommendations and you said "nobody cares"

How does it feel to be a dumbass?
>>
>>66034534
>being this triggered
I knew you were talking about his prose by using "but" and I could tell by your tone that you didn't appreciate his point either. And I consider Radiohead slightly above mediocre, while Coldplay and Muse (outside of their first albums) are barely listenable garbage.
>>
>>66034690
feels pretty good. yeah i am shitposting, so sue me. btw that post was not him giving recommendations, it was him trying to prove he knows what musique concrete is. and nobody cares.

shitposting is one thing. being a blatant dumbass is different.

also the anon was genuinely asking for recs, that much is obvious
>>
>>66034802
that guy was being pretentious so i spent a few minutes being a dick to him. i hoped he would make an ass of himself but the most i got was a lot of 'retard' and 'fag' and some palpable frustration. so that's where were at.

also as far as splitting hairs, i mean, i am currently responding to a chain of posts in which i claimed nobody cares, and then it was disputed whether somebody cared. we are all arguing about nothing anyway

holy fuck it is completely implausible to like a band that's entry level to some people just because they need their self-validation.

>>
>>66034909
He wasn't talking about perception. Our perception can certainly be subjective. Like if me and my deaf friend listen to Beethoven we're gonna have some different thoughts on it.

But the actual quality of music is objective. Regardless of our silly perceptions.

Radiohead are on the top shelf. They're just also popular so you're not allowed to like them. Seriously, I discovered Radiohead almost ten years ago and I still love them
>>
>>66035102
because i read comments and think "holy fuck, this idiot is serious"

so it comes with reminding myself that even if others are serious, they can't be taken seriously.
>>
>>66034632
Kanye is the only one of those that's better than Radiohead, although all are good to great.
>>
>there are people who like radiohead at all
>>
>>66033119
WHAT DID YOU SAY?
>>
>>66035046
Music can be objective when talking about the technical aspects. Like it's harder to write a 20 minute Prog song than a 2 minute Punk song.

But usually when people are talking about objectivity or subjectivity in music it's about the quality of it. And that falls under the realm of perception as you said. So therefore music IS subjective as far as how good we think it is goes.

You could argue that technically complex music is better but even that falls under perception.
>>
>>66034632
Longtime "Radiohead is my favorite band" person here, I've heard all of these artists, and while I love loveless, ege bayamsi, and a few others I can't say any of these were enough to dethrone Radiohead for me. Entry level or not, very few artists have 6 or 7 albums as good as their best

Well he said music so he must have been. Because what is or is not considered "music" is up to the view (or the artist, depending on your view of art criticism)

OK I'll take the b8.

How do you measure the quality objectively?
