why do you guys think screamo isn't as popular as the traditional "emo" band? why do shitty hardcore bands get millions of views on youtube for playing beatdown music when there's no "real screamo" band that gets even half that popularity? i just find it interesting how niche of a genre it is, considering it pretty much is an evolution of hardcore but more than half the time screamo bands have a more original sound. thoughts on this? i'm not entirely knowledgeable but it's just something i've observed

not many bands really do traditional emo/emocore sounds anymore.

i can name/have heard a lot more bands ripping off Orchid and Seatia than bands ripping off Julia or Yaphet Kotto or Breakwater
