What DJing gear should I cop if I want to be taken seriously and possibly get gigs using club standards like Nexus 2000s and shit but don't want to completely blow my budget?
Should I look into some used Pioneer CDJs that use USB and some sort of Pioneer 4 channel mixer?
I don't have like 6000€ to spend on "the real deal" but I feel like these all-in-one USB shits look really embarrassing and childish and learning on them wouldn't translate well to a club setup.

what people don't seem to realise is ***mixing is not a very difficult skill to learn***. If you have any sort of natural ear for rhythm then it will take a few months of practising at most to get pretty decent at it. At least about 80% of what people want is good taste and an ability to place tunes tastefully next to one another - making the mixes smooth is really not a priority.
also, from what i've found, various clubs will have various different setups. you can't prepare for everything, and, yes, you will mess up a few mixes on new setups. for example, the first time I was using 'linked' CDJs with a USB at one club, I selected a new tune on the wrong CDJ, stopping the one currently playing. people find it kinda funny, and as long as you do everything with good grace then no one really gives a shit
what i'm essentially saying is just buy whatever you can, get good on that, and then the ability to adapt will come from confidence on that setup, no matter how basic it is

easy - CDJs are such good bits of tech (and clubs that own CDJs probably won't own anything more basic than 1000s). yeah the very first time I used CDJs in a club I went down 10 mins earlier than they said so I could play around with stuff with my headphones in and the faders down to 0.
the only thing that is an initial hurdle to get over is the jogwheel, and it's really easy (if not as intuitive as turntables) to use, because the sensitivity is quite low meaning that you can do small adjustments easily.
also any models that are vaguely new will have bpm counters which just makes your job stupidly easy

one thing to consider that I'm personally considering myself as an upgrade from my mixtrack (lmao) is to get old CDJs, maybe 850s, that are worth much less because they don't have usb inputs, and using them with control CDs and serato. That way you have your entire digital music library but the feel of CDJs for a lot less money
the main thing holding me back from getting it is that I want a vinyl setup much more so I think that an investment into something else will ultimately be a waste
as others have said, it doesn't really matter what you learn on, even my mixtrack that I bought off a dude in my dorm has served my purposes quite well
