the most "Rolling Stone" list ever created
They should have just called it top 500 albums made by people with crooked yellow teeth
probably accurate for normies

Everyone on /mu/ was a normal fag at one point. Name of the list should have been "so you want to listen to music"
their 500 greatest songs list got me into music and i thank them for that

This. I loved this list so much when I was in eighth grade; it blew my mind. First listen to Pet Sounds was because of this list. I will always be nostalgic for it.

normie as fuck but a decent list

Pretty much what everyone else is saying. It's mostly entry level, but there's a place for that. Also it's where I first heard of X and Richard Thompson.

Decent albums, but skewed as hell towards dadrock. Not surprising since it's Rolling Stone, but still. Little experimental, hip hop, electronic, or much of anything after the 1970s.
I wouldn't even really call it a good place to start since so much shit is left off. I'd say take the '60s albums from this list, combine it with pitchfork's decade rank lists and you have something a little more representative of the different kinds of music that are out there.

I unironically use this list for dadrock albums
