all the top universities are still going to be top universities and i honestly can't see why brexit would prevent top european students and teachers from being there. sure, there might be more paperwork, but at the end of the day it is most definitely worth it both for the student and for the university.

It's not just erasmus (which I don't know why one would call it shit, if your erasmus program didn't end well it might be because you picked a shitty university to go to or went in blind and waster your time on classes you didn't need), a lot of research is now financially supported by the EU which allows the money the nation itself puts into universities to be directly used for infrastructure maintenance and renewal, for paying the non-researcher personnel, etc. Without the EU funding the research, you will make your universities either less efficient by reducing the pay of its workers, less modern by cutting the maintenance and functionning costs, or less accessible by maintaining its current form but charging the students more.
