reminder that this is how some people evaluate ambient music
how are there people who don't recognize wolfgang voigt as a literal god in music
there are people who don't find Poohkali strangely endearing?
>>65878614
He's right, though. Ambient is embryo genre. It's for lazy people.
I don't understand why people comment on music in a genre they outright dislike. If the only thing you like to listen to is indie-folk-rock, obviously ambient isn't for you.
>>65878663
Negative opinions are valuable too, I feel. Hearing people shit on things you like is good for perspective.
>>65878663
Lol, nice "straw man".
This guy listened to more music than you ever will.

that third page with nothing but Asia 5*s
>>65878684
And in doing so has probably not given most of the music he has listened time to settle, for him to absorb and appreciate it, listen to it several times and see how it affects his heart and his head, in different situations, on different days, in different mindsets...
instead he has rated nearly 19,000 pieces of music that artists have labored over and poured their souls into, after little more than a glance at them; a single listen, or sometimes two.
That's a shame.

I would take 100 Poohkalis over one TheHorbgorbler desu
>>65878614
This is stupid, but why do we care at all?
Pop is an album I really enjoy and if other people don't, that's just fine.
>>65878853
Holy shit this guy is based, you're just mad because he BTFO whatever low testosterone avant-teen crap you're enamored with this week.
>>65878853

At least he's unique, I'd take him over generic Avant-teen
>>65878853
middle aged rymers are pretty entertaining unlike mallgoth teenagers #27546

I have no time to elaborate, but the fallacy here is that ambient, indie, black metal, and other New Age crap like that is different not qualitatively, but quantitatively. Namely, no one hates those genres because they do things differently -- that would be respectable, and dislike of them truly, and properly, attributable to personal differences in taste. The reason that people hate ambient is because its producers sell it as music while it just displays less effort, less creativity than real genres. *plink ... plink ... plink ................................................................................. plink* am I a musician yet???*. It's this disingenuous claim for musicianship that rightly annoys (admittedly, few) people.

>real genres
you are a very boring person
>>65878684
>metal
>>65879234
Am I mistaken that extremely few people unironically believe in objective quality of music? If so, then it might be boring, but at least it's rare.

what the heck
>>65879268
you are mistaken. the majority believes it, though not consciously. it takes a special kind of idiot to believe it consciously though
>>65879285
This is pretty sad...
Why the fuck is this on rym tho?
>>65878853
i don't see what the issue is here.
>>65879468
then don't post, you useless waste
>>65879440
well it seems this guy is a bit special and likes to catalogue everything in his life. and he has an audience in rym.
>>65879474
it's hysterical how to be kind, tago mago and ITAOTS are the albums whoever made that decided to harp over. obvious /mu/drone with an inferiority complex
>>65878729
I've never understood how some people think this way. I've revisited albums I didn't like many, many, many times and I just can't get into them. Over the course of my life I must have owned 6 or 7 copies of around 80 albums that I just always thought were shit.
I may develop new thoughts on things, but I've never learnt to like anything.

>inferiority complex
>coming from a person that needs to create an online persona in form of a tripcode on an anonymous music discussion forum
holy shit i'm laffin
>>65878663
i love both indiefolk and ambient.
>>65879545
i don't see how that even begins to refute my point but your rhetoric certainly hits the right notes of a typical /mu/drone so i'm just going to let you keep digging at this point.

why do people do this to themselves. just have a kid that you will love as much and he probably won't die in your lifetime. needy people that get to attached should not have dogs. i'm like that and my dog is 10. idk what i'm gonna do when he passes.
>>65879498
they're albums people here would actually care about. since this image was obviously made with the intent of posting it here. less people would care about Poohkali's opinion of https://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/pamelia_kurstin/thinking_out_loud/ even if it's equally stupid

you actually support this
>>65879628
no i genuinely think whoever made that pic was just mad cuz his favorite /mu/-approved music got shitted on; to say otherwise would imply a personality that isn't complete self-centeredness.
