If tonewood is a meme, why does /gg/ hate ovation guitars with composite backs?
>>
>>65834174
it's obviously not the target model. It's probably a really nice guitar.

because tonewood is real for acoustics. Fiberglass isn't a tonewood.

>>65834790
Yeah. He got all assmad and jealous because people posted their gear. He started posting their pics pretending to be them. A lot of anons put trips on, he got even more upset. He has absolutely no life at all so he posts that same pasta all the time at all hours. About a week ago, he did it for like 4 hours straight claiming he was "winning" and "killed /gg/". Everyone laughed and it became entertaining to see how long it would go on, someone told him we were entertained and he stopped. But really, it's been more than 3 weeks now. Every time i shit i look here and see if he's still "winning" and I'm never disappointed that the little guy is still doing it, with delusions of grandeur.

He's legitimately been spamming this thread non-stop for 11 hours now. It's pretty interesting the incredible lengths autists will go once they've got their mind set on something. It's almost admirable just how dedicated he is to this.

Anyone could become a guitar god if they took the amount of effort and dedication he puts into sperging all over a small general around an issue no one really cares about and focused it into their guitar practice.

Yeah based on how his spam is technically non-specific, he seems like a bleeper.

Also, I've seen him make a mistake and delete his posts (see >>65834931), so it's not a script doing it, he's actually wasting his time posting this.

I don't usually post in /gg/ at all, I was just curious what's going on. There are often novices here, but sometimes there are knowledgeable people like myself.

My cousin is going to University soon, non essential information:
>(going back, she's 19 I'm 24, went a year early dropped twice, lots of issues at home, drugs, abuse, she doesn't have a social media or complain about it to anyone surprisingly, she'd just play guitar quietly, always wanted a classical guitar)

Essential info: they play guitar, steel string acoustic, rather well. Going in for music theory. They can play some of Bach's french suites, cello suites, currently learning BWV565, they're really passionate about music, but I don't have a lot of money to buy a new classical guitar.

I wanted to get a solid top at least. Which do I get: (they currently have an Epiphone)

I don’t play guitar but I think Ovations are neato, as the founder of company, Charles Kaman, built helicopters and adapted the synthetic material tech from that industry to make his guitars.

That said, my buddy who does play guitar doesn’t like the rounded backs, as the guitar slides off his lap.

Yes and I loved it! I had to back off on the treble on my Deluxe but it sounded great especially with a boost or light overdrive behind it with a guitar with single coils. Joyo make amazing pedals for the money, I am also sure they make lots of other pedals under different brand names.
>>
>>65836828
Jackson got bought by fender so their quality Sort of went down. Just check what country it is maurfatured in. If it's Indonesia made stay away. Early 2000s Japan made Jackson's are pretty commnon on eBay if you're sold on the brand, I own two myself and they play great. Just be warned the floyds in most of those models can't be perfectly intimated because they only have positions the saddles can be moved to, but it doesn't really matter that much.

just google up an online tuner, they'll usually have decent sound samples so you've got some idea of what the string should sound like

alumitone bars are bright and clear. So much so that they are bound to not match up that well with many amps. I don't think they're a good idea for someone who doesn't like to put much effort into sculpting their tone. On the other hand that's the right extreme end of the pickup spectrum to be at. It is always easier to add warmth, low end, and mud than to add clarity and convincing brightness.

The alumitones are sort of a shot at the "ultimate humbucker" in that way. They're supposed to do it all, and they certainly can, but not by simply plugging into an amp with a 3 band EQ.

Anime posting serves the purpose of discouraging normies and high schoolers for the most part from posting. At the very least you can expect more weebs than kids tabbing between 4chan and facebook to actually read the rules or want to use the website for more than memes. If you find anime itself annoying to see, I dunno. I mean, it's got to be less disturbing that vomit.gif or literal shitposting.

It does seem counter-intuitive to discourage newfags by simply being unpleasant, but if you actually watch anime or read manga than the only downside is that occasionally people complain. It's not a utopia for everyone, but my guess is this is the underlying reason why people reply to complaints with >on 4chan.

Try to look at it like people posting any other meme: It's stupid and laughable. That might help you put up with it more easily.

I use seymour duncans in my bass. I wouldn't use them if anybody else made a stacked jazz bass pickup for cheaper. I prefer gfs when they offer what I want. Seymour duncan is fine but nothing special when it comes to machine made pickups. Frankly, if you're getting a machine made pickup, look for the following: some attempt to measure the gauss of the magnet, and the overall design and specs (including materials) you want.

I've found hand wound pickups or scatterwound pickups can be worth it if you want to cut down slightly on the capacitance of your pickup.

If you're not looking for hand made, gfs, calig, and other artec brands are great. I've found with my admittedly fairly limited experience gfs pickups to have tighter tolerances than seymour duncan.

How do you get that abrasive post-punk tone like PIL, The Fall, Big Black, e.t.c?

They are probably using a Ratt or maybe an older DS-1. at some point in time Boss changed the circuitry for the DS-1 in the 80s I believe, and they sound wussier. You probably have a newer one, they were using an older one.

Thanks, but I want a dedicated loop box.
>>
>>65840338
Your amp settings are a huge part of it. Give it a bit too much treble, it'll be less physically painful when the drums play over it. I posted the guitarist of this song's gear last thread. http://youtu.be/TRqyT5ByZPQ

He uses a boss blues driver and a jcm900 for this. Blues driver definitely can do real treble-ey stuff.
>>
>>65840799
If you want a dedicated loop box I think having more than one button could be helpful. Being able to stop, resume, and overdub with single presses is useful.
>>
>>65840733
maybe a really weird looking half note?
>>
>>65840895
The x2 would be nice for that, but I don't need the stop button that badly.
>>
>>65840925

i don't have a clue, it has to be a full note i imagine since its 4 beats per measure right?

But what are you supposed to do with it.

I appreciate the response.
>>
>>65840733
First one is just a half note, it gets two beats. The second one is a tie, the chord starts on the eighth note and gets held out through the half note without strumming again
>>
>>65840733
The first one is a half note (one 4th and two 8th notes come before and it's in 4/4 so it must be a half note)
The second one "ties" the note together. In this example it's a 8th and a half note. So you hit the note on the 8th and it's duration is 8th+half or five 8th.
>>
>>65840729
This. I have a zoom g3 and a ditto, and I almost always use the g3 for looping. The only thing the ditto seems to do better is be small.

>>
>>65840733
4 beats per bar. each bar has a quarter note, then 2 eighth notes. half of the bar remains.. and there's something that looks like a half note. it's a half note.

it's odd because they don't use slashes in place of a filled round note, then a box in place of an empty round note

the 2nd one is is a tie. the note is sounded once, and held for the duration of the combined notes. in this case, an eighth + a half
