I actually think this is a fair review/score. They only mentioned the rape allegations in one sentence to relate it to a song. I really like The Glowing Man but it does leave me a little unsatisfied.

I think that album deserves a 7.6-7.9 at most. The first time I listened to it was mindblowing but it gets more underwhelming with every listen. I'm a hardcore +@ fan.

The reference to the allegation, as well as the entire review was suprisingly subdued in my opinion. As a person who never reads Pitchfork otherwise (or music criticism in general), are their reviews usually this shallow and rudimentary?
It seemed to me like they were trying their best to write as distanced and minimally as possible, but perhaps that is their customary style.

this is blatantly untrue, tons of white musicians have gotten 9s every year, even 10s. last year Tame Impala got a 9.3 BNM, Benji got a 9.2 BNM, the Velvet Underground album that was reissued recently got a 10, Bowie has multiple 10s, etc.
as far as The Glowing Man goes, 8/10 is pretty much the exact score I would give it, and I say that as a huge Swans fan. this whole "anything lower than a 9.5 is a pan" meme needs to stop, it's retarded and only underage newfags think it's funny.
I'm actually amazed that P4K would praise the album at all considering how SJW they have been in the past, so the fact that they are the ONLY popular music website that DIDN'T put a huge focus on the rape allegations in their reviews is very impressive to me honestly. If you've got someone reviewing Hip Hop, they don't need musical training to make a fair judgement. I've literally never seen a RYM review that could pass for a professional one. The hardest part in music reviewing is weighing up a completely uninteresting album that you have little opinion on, which makes up 95% of music reviewing.
