They have a lot of themes about being more enlightened than the sheeple masses and opening your third eye with drugs and shit. That and the fact that their music is accessible but still has some experimental elements makes for the perfect storm of Redditors who latch onto them like they're the most genius thing ever.

Lateralus is still a great album though, check it out sometime if you like heavier progressive rock

10,000 Days was a let down as well, so over a decade without a good album. Why should we care about/discuss this band when there are plenty of active artists putting out fresh music at least yearly.
