He would have been 68 today. Let's have a thread for him. Just discuss his music and whatnot.
Pink Moon got me through some times. He couldn't cope with existence, but at least he made art that helped others cope.
Bumping with some of my favorite home recordings of his

It's so cool how he kind of... perfectly captured his emotions and his situation in Pink Moon before he died. It feels so personal, like not all of him had to die. there's that part that will just keep going.
Thanks for making me sad
RIP
bumping for the last time

I've always felt there was this this clear, mirror-like element to Pink Moon that sort of reflected your own state of mind. The lyrics are obviously depressing, but his voice, and the guitar work are both so understated and soothing, that I can see what anon meant.
I feel the same way about other "depressing" musicians like Grouper.

Happy Birthday Nick! Truly on of the best undiscovered talents.
During my stay in a hospital on suicide prevention i would listen to pink moon in the middle of the night on an old ipod i snuck in
I will never forget your music, Nick. RIP
I just wish I could've been his friend and helped him how his music helped me
Maybe some people just aren't meant for this world
RIP Nick. Thank you.
Listening to Family Tree right now. Had no idea it was his birthday today.
It's funny, I'd been meaning to listen to Nick drake for months, and when I was at the library, I mistakenly checked out a Nick drake cd thinking it was Nick cave! Needless to say, I fell in love with his music. The man had a beautiful voice and wrote soothing, wonderfully peaceful songs. Rest in peace Nick

His sister has said that she just wishes that Nick would know how much his music has helped other people. Nick had said that he wanted his music to be able to help others, and despite failing while alive, he has succeeded in death.

John Martyn is pretty great. Him and Nick were friends too IIRC.
