Who else agrees that the 60s/70s/80s was a kind of golden age of rock music?
I know I'm going to get a lot of people disagreeing with me. I can already tell from a quick skimming of the catalog that this board is heavily indie/alternative kind of stuff.
But can you really beat Pink Floyd, the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zep, AC/DC, Mamas and the Papas, The Byrds, the Doors, The Moody Blues and so much more?
There's a kind of musical genius from those old so called "classic rock" days that barely exists anymore. I'm really disappointed in the state of modern music, in general, which is not to say all of it is shit. I'm also in my early 20s.
Thoughts?

how is this vapid pop song about love any better than a modern vapid pop song about love
compositionally it's no more or less (actually maybe less due to the technological limitations of the time) complex/layered and lyrically it's just as fucking dumb, except now instead of this white-washed and christian outlook on things mainstream society is much more open and accepting of sex and sexuality
>>65786285
ooo the political correctness here is making me cringe into a fuckin' coma.
Jesus Christ.
Everybody's Talkin' is just a good song, it's nothing like blues as you'd commonly think of it, even if it (may) have some inspirational link.
>>65786355
I didn't say that this specific song is better than all current songs.
Both of these songs happen to be incredibly well done, they took massive amounts of talent.
Perhaps it's a learned taste. To someone who has never heard 60's music, it's harder to get into.
Also that's folk rock for your info.

Am I to understand that you think either of those songs are white washed or Christian in outlook, whatsoever?
My my you're an ignoramus.

She is obviously inspired by Beatles and Doors, possibly the Moody Blues.
It's just derivative of the great classics of rock in our modern times.

More edgelordery.
This is good but it does not compare to the best work of the 60's. No way Jose. Hopefully when you grow up more you see that.
Not to say I don't love this, because I do. GYBE is a great band.
Again, derivative of psychedelic late 60s bands AF
