HOLY SHIT I'm floored
This album is great, that run from Detroit all the way to the last song is something special. I was not expecting this at all, I think as a cohesive project this is one of the most complete albums they've put out besides maybe By the way.

Yeah. I haven't listened to it yet, but the general consensus seems to be quite positive, with Kiedis being singled out as the weak point. Lots of good things being said about Josh, though, that's great.
So glad they this album was amazing, I had such low expectations but this was a really strong return to form. I also really liked the ol' kiedis' vocals. Also stadium arcadium is the best chillis album suck my dick

After my first listen......flea and Chad really put the team on their back in this one, the drums and bass are so good. Josh has improved/ really came out in this album and Anthony vocals and lyrics are good. Way better than I'm with you for me. Something still feels off in the gateway(song) tho

IMO they became a different band with Californication. And that's cool, it's a solid album, but the genuine RHCP sound is stuff like Freaky Styley and BSSM. Not fucking Stadium Arcadium or I'm With You.

This. They were a really interesting band back in the 80s and early 90s. Every album was really different but they always stuck to a Funk and Punk sound and ethos that worked really well.
I think Californication and onward has it's moments, especially BTW where the band embraced the "adult phase" thing fully and really made it work. But I miss their old sound.

Unless you're just saying I should listen to that for a song that's more complex. Then fuck no. Besides I already listened to most of the album so I probably heard it. Only songs that stood out were Sick Love and Encore. Encore had a great verse with a shitty chorus.
Interestingly, both Encore and Dreams of a Samurai originated from live jams that have been played on stage between 2011 - 2013

Oh... interesting. I quite liked his tone. He could have gone with a really distorted sound for that riff but instead kept it clean but nice and thick.
Jack irons could support flea, chad just does whatever flea does and vice versa, like non-drummers. Both john and josh are like hillel, clones, but without an actual vehement soul.
This album was pretty standard RHCP-album. Flea clearly tries to bring back slap bass. Unfortunately, no one else tries to be like they previously were. Anthony Kiedis' vocals are more annoying than ever. It had a few okay songs I guess.
