I've listened to hip hop my entire life. My earliest memory is rapping along to Koolio on a car ride. I'm not going to stop listening to it, but I definitely listen to less of it now.
it's like disney and american idol acts imo. very few creative, talented people doing it. it's a lot of production, sampling, ghostwriting, and shallow lyrics.
maybe kanye is original and talented, idc enough to think about that though. i never liked the genre to begin with.

Hip hop makes me so angry because it brings out the worst in white people. I'm white, and my best friend used to not like hip hop at all. He listened to okay shit (The Strokes, Radiohead, AnCo) and I showed him good stuff later on. Suddenly he's like "dude Chance the rapper is sick" and I'm like "what that is just not good music please don't" but suddenly he's like "its not about whether its good or not its about whether you can get into it and vibe with it" and my whole perception of the genre changed. Hip hop is a trap for white people who desire slightly normal social interaction so they can pretend to "vibe" to shit with other people. It's gross.
