I'm having awful problems with inner groove distortion. I've tried to check cartridge's alignment around 100 times and I even ended up buying a better one (Ortofon OM10 -> 2M Red) with the same result.

Any idea what I should check next? I'm on the verge of taking my record player to the store I bought it from and get it checked.

Technics turntables from garage sales
>>
>>65685971
Why would you recommend an AT table?
You can get a better used table for way cheaper.

In about three years, the market is going to be flooded with used Crosleys and ATs when "vinyls" aren't "the cool thing that kids do" anymore.
>>
>>65684332

Exactly what I was looking for!
>>
>>65686132
They're easy to find, most stores that sell records sell them. If you can find a better turntable cheaper, thats great. I recommend the AT over most other entry-level turntables because it's fully automatic, meaning you press a button and it lefts the needle onto the record for you. So if you have an unsteady hand It'll help prevent scratching and damage to the needle. It has a dust cover that completely covers the record while it plays to help keep it from getting dirty. I live in the desert, so dust is a big issue here.

What turntable from AT? I'm sure you meant in general but maybe a price range for me would help. I'm not super rich, but I don't want something cheap. I also don't have that many records, so I most likely won't have much to play at first. If the turntable requires learning, I'm perfectly fine with that.

Dude. Go to reddit's vinyl board. Forget the anons that like to pretend that we have a "rivalry" with them. There's a really good guide there for beginners. You're going to need an amp/receiver, speakers... and I would recommend looking for a used table rather than a new AT.

Went to Valencia recently and copped:

Louis Armstrong - Historia Del Jazz (Compilation)
Can - Monster Movie
Puseletso Seema & Tau Ea Linare – He O Oe Oe!
Rare Earth – Get Ready
Shirley Bassey – And I Love You So
Sweet Sensation – Sweet Sensation (Mr. Cool)
The Kinks – Historia De La Música Rock Vol. 47 (Compilation)
Cat Stevens- Cat Stevens (Compilation)
Dave Brubeck Trio & Gerry Mulligan – Live At The Berlin Philharmonic

Valencia has nice stores with a lot of prog, but it's a little bit pricey I'd guess the average price for an old record was €9

Pretty much. Also garage sales and flea markets. If there ever is a record sale somewhere near you, chances are there will be that on grey-haired bloke with piles of stereo gear for sale and you'll probably find something that might be in your price range after a bit of negociation. But really, keep your eyes open and wherever you see an old TV on sale, go take a look because chances are there will also be some old stereo stuff for sale as well in there.

Cool people get their records signed in-person while shaking the man's hand :)
Unfortunately the album contains a ton of recycled material and not many new ideas. If you've seen them live recently, it was probably better than this album. They should have ended it with the live album, The Gate, like they did in the 90's.
The Glowing Man sounds so much like Bring The Sun I skipped forward the track the first time I heard it because I thought it was a ruse.
Probably my least favourite swans album. :(

Yeah it's good, not as good as I Shall Die Here tho. Haxan Cloak just brought way too much to that album to match it again I think.

I could tell he appreciated me wanting to shake his hand and talk to him rather than immediately thrusting something for him to sign; he actually asked me for them to sign.

Honestly it just sounds like a directionless live To Be Kind set, so if that's your thing you'll probably like it. I can't justify giving it more than a 6/10, and I thought To Be Kind was 9/10 material. I'll stick to The Gate, which is a better release imo.

Copped for the amazing price of $45 at my local record store. What a freaking steal
>>
Found Black One by Sunn O))) and Volume One by Sleep in my local record store.

Can't really afford both. Having a tuff one deciding which one I should buy, or neither. Volume One is $20 and Black one is $30. Sleep is more listenable in a group setting. Isn't Sleeps best album though, whereas Black One is probably Sunn's best and has the coolest are and is all around awesome. Any of you have any thoughts on this?

>>
>>65680118

Oof.

Probably not. That's probably the most severe case of warping I've seen that didn't involve intentional melting with fire.

But, that being said, you might be able to get it to be sorta possibly playable. Get two peices of glass and two sheets of paper. put the record between the sheets of paper and then between the sheets of glass. Get some books or something sorta heavy, start with ~3 pounds, and put it on top (obviously the record/glass goes on a hard surface). Slowly increase the weight. 1-3 pounds every few days. Flip the record every day. The whole process can take 2-4 weeks. Once you reach ~15 pounds stop adding weight. Just let it sit there.

I've fixed some super warped records that way. But they were warped in way more typical ways (ie, just bent in the middle). The key is patience and careful monitoring. Honestly though, that record looks completely fucked. The fact that the warps are so small means the pressure needed to unwarp them in just those spots will probably either break the plastic or smush the grooves too much to be played anymore.

Got it yesterday, haven't spun it yet, just listened to the CD. The center hole might small, I also noticed some vinyl scrappings scattered around, will have to clean those up before playing.

Yeah just got back from a week there, I went to 2: Harmony Records and Devil Records, Harmony was the best for quality and price
>>
>>65706760
yeah, i had to scrap some off mine to make it fit. plus i think it was pressed off center since the stylus moves back and forth but still sounds good. glad skin graft is back though

I don't have a record player, and I'm interested in getting one. What does /vinyl/ recommend? Nothing super expensive, I'd like to buy something in the middle price range.

My local record store has a nice little annex in an antique store down the street where they put their $2-5 stuff. Always some decent records in there.

Apparently so, the label says "strictly limited Record Store Day exclusive" but I picked it up about a week ago.

One of the few bands my partner and I can really agree on. Hopped on the bus for 4 hours to go see her and these guys and picked up the record.

So the list of stuff id need to start playing is a player, receiver, speakers, aftermarket needle.. And what else. also would you boys recommend buying a sub?

I was curious what are good record cleaners, I have about 60 records from goodwill that all almost have no scratches, but they are just dusty and potentially grimy, no warping on any of them. Whats a good cleaner to use for that amount of records?

you're referring to that anons albums being new as in not used and therefore more expensive, not new as in released within the last decade, right? 'cause youll catch flack for being a jealous poorfag that way as opposed to a dadrockfag the other way. both aren't good looks, tho i see your point ripping on anons taste lookin like a tryhard rym faggit

This, but also put it in the oven at 130F for 45 minutes, remove and stack some heavy shit on it and let it cool. You can also skip the paper when putting it in the oven, be sure the glass it clean though.
