i never really got into him and think he's just another 90s indie revivalist marketed towards nerdy suburban white teens. reminds me of yuck, best coast, wavves, those kinds of bands.

I kind of get these comparison but none of those bands can touch will lyrically or in terms of raw emotion. He's not in totally uncharted waters but his lyrics are pretty unique.
