The 50s were very immature years for rock and roll where kids barely pushed the edgy limits. Sure it was fun but hardly god tier, almost every song literally having the same subject matter and using the exact same chords because most records were souly about commercialization. The 60s was definitely the golden age for pop though with melody-makers like Goffin and King, Lennon-McCartney, Brian Wilson, Phil Spector (with production). In hindsight the later part of the decade was only the beginning of great rock but if you think it got shit after that, blame economics and the pessimism of the 70s for ruining the mood.
The only good thing to come out of the 50's was the year 1959.
