Well, I'm the guy who made that and I know very little music theory, and the little I do know didn't really go into writing that. I'm not familiar with "yousician" but I'm sure it couldn't hurt. I never took any kind of lessons, so I doubt learning that way would be any less effective then just picking up stuff here and there like I did. It's just whatever works for you.

Honestly I think its just a matter of patience. If you have a guitar around and consistently fuck around with it, you're gonna eventually learn your way around it. I mean that's more or less what I did, though I imagine having some kind of formal structure to your learning can speed up the process by a good bit.
