tbf, he and chamberlain were the only creative and competent people in that band. Butch Vig, while producing Siamese Dream, was the one that basically told D'arcy and Iha that they weren't up to snuff and to let Corgan record their parts. Sure, Corgan could have protested harder, but he knew it was true and Siamese Dream was too big to gamble letting them fuck it up.
