it's genuinely mediocre. it occasionally picks up some momentum but half the songs kill it immediately. for survey purposes it has a grain of interest but compared to genuinely great music it's a snoozer

What "genuinely great music" do you compare it too?
I mean, I was a Talking Heads fan well before I knew about /mu/. It is considered an "important" album, and is well known beyond having become a meme. And it is the Talking Heads album a decent number of people like best.
That said, it's WAAAAAAY overrated. Honestly the 4th best Heads album imo. You can do a lot better.
