Most art historians agree that videogames aren't art. Well, if a medium that contains music isn't artistic, how could music by itself be artistic?

Even if the video games themselves aren't art, each and every individual asset within a game is art.
For example, the character model is art. The music in the games is art. The writing in the games is art.
It might not be high art, but those are all recognized artistic mediums. I can't see a single valid argument for these assets individually not being art aside from "it's not good enough for me" which is a whiny non-argument.

Even supermarkets have elements of artistry in their design, construction, function etc. One of the defining qualities of art though is that is does nothing but act as art. Films, music, games that are primarily entertainment cease to be art, just as a urinal's main function disqualifies it as art.

If I made a movie about a mountain, only the mountain would be art, because I'm only making my own view of the mountain.
Meanwhile singing is art because you produce your own sounds, while playing an instrument isn't; the guitar is the art you are using, sound is just an effect of it.
