Don't listen to it, it's by far one of the most overrated pieces of shit albums ever, the first track is pretty but the rest are just mechanic and soulless proto punk songs made by junkies, I mean if you like music with no passion, you might like it.

I've never heard a single Pink Floyd album.

Overrated but worth a listen. Undeniably had a huge cultural impact though.

These fucks never can refute my point without their shallow and unsubstantial replies, shows how TVU fans are equally shallow and unintelligent. I said why I didn't like the album and all they can fucking do is THIS. Fucking idiots.
>>
>>65567288
And this is not the first time its happened. It happens EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I criticize them. What a bunch of unintelligent twats.

Like what? Surely you don';t suggest this album started sadomasochism or the heroin epidemic?

Jason Aldean tried to save country music with this album. Great music, fantastic emotional lyrics and all but failed to sell.

A cult classic, he's the Nick Drake of our generation.

NICO - Desertshore - 1970
Obscure atmospheres and emptiness, absolutely cult.

Do yourself a favor bud, guitar music rarely gets that beautiful. For context, this is an album of songs that these guys had been practicing for years, embellishing and further embellishing on the guitar (and sometimes drum) work as they went along until they could finally record them.
>>
>>65568007
This fucking album changed my life I swear.
You look at it and think "okay?? So the album art is just a bunch of weirdos standing there, apparently it's pretty good art punk or post punk or something?" But what you don't realize is this is the greatest masterpiece rock music has ever crafted, holy fucking shit just listen to it anon and fall love.
I hope you like guitars and high pitched nasally vocals though or else you'll hate it.
And get the bonus tracks because they're wonderful.
And don't you dare just dismiss adventure and their s/t because they're good too.
>>
>>65567874
Fuck you you got me. It's trash. This album was commercially successful too.

Listen from Piper to The Final Cut. You may have heard the big songs from their albums, but honestly they are one of the GOAT bands. They were great from Syd until the end of the Waters era.

it has beautiful moments. it has chaotic and noisy ones. even if you end up do not liking it, it's rather interesting to notice how influential VU is.
>>65565594
pink floyd is one of the bands that got me into music. i just love them. At least listen to 'time' :)
>>65567496
if you're into blues rock, go for it. I didn't like at first I gotta say. Just start with blood on the tracks, you'll probably love it (watch out for the lyrics)

Dont listen to edgy memelord on /mu/ this is a great album.
Dont bother looking up the genre or anything, just listen to it. Its just good music with incredible lyrics where every song is different
>>
>>65565594
It's a great album, even if the hype is so substantial that it could never live up to it. Just go into it with an open mind and you should enjoy the experience.

This

And Bowie in general, other than Low and Heroes, which didn't really resonate with me

Even if I dig Eno as a producer
>>
>>65567449
Combination of one of the best producers and one of the best rappers to make a legendary album. Definitely a must listen.
>>
>>65565431
brutally drug-addled noise rock/pop, it's a really disarming listen both emotionally and musically. it's avant garde (for its time), sure, but it doesn't fall on pretentiousness

>>65565594
it may stand a bit short to all the hype that surrounds it, but it mixes in a spectacular way the best aspects of Pink Floyd: the concerns over the horrors of modern life, the perfect balance between pop structures and atmospheric proggy space rock, blues rock, and psych rock, the sheer inventiveness of it all and a pretty tight production

>>65567352
this is super fun power pop that will take you for a ride of feels you'll never get over

>>65567496
nice folk rock

>>65567831
it's got a cool opener

>>65568314
disregard all memes. it's a very nice, comfy album that will break and mend your heart. fuzzy lo-fi psych folk that comes from the warmest feelings

>>65568831
this is plain beauty with Bowie going insane after discovering synthesizers and Brian Eno. if Cold War paranoia and human abandon could sound like something, it would sound like this art rock/dark ambient Bowie

>>65569458
hands down the best Bowie album, it's even prophetic. the peak of glam rock. seldom has music ever sprouted with such a passion and such a kicking emotion.
>>
>>65567347
Musically it introduced or founded several aspects of much subsequent music, including noise rock/feedback use/taboo lyricism (contextual to the time)/primal drumming/droning instruments, and just generally contributed a lot of inventive flavor that many many many critically acclaimed bands and musicians have derived or cited as an influence on their own work.

Aesthetically and culturally it represents the quintessential cool of new york city: the whole band draped in black leather and sunglasses. They had the sound, the look, the lifestyle. Music was/is always an art but the Velvets cemented such a straightforward ethic and depiction of art rock that warrants its iconic nature. Just listen
>>
>>65568228
You have to be in the mood for it, The Marble Index too

You'll know when you're ready to enjoy it
>>
>>65565500
and the second track. femme fetale is pretty.

also of course Venus in Furs has a distinct, mournful sound
>>
>>65570378
wouldn't have expected you to leave out Marquee Moon..........
>>
>>65567352
Holy shit I just picked this album up at a garage sale. Will listen
>>
>>65571333
holy shit, i didn't see it posted

>>65568007
this shit soars. it's got the gritty glory of punk, the somber nocturnal urban shades of post-punk and the sheening, powerful, shiver-inducing guitar work of art music. it really takes you on a ride. Guiding Light and Torn Curtain are the highlights for me. it's one of those perspective-changing albums

Really interesting concept album that swoops through several different instrumentations. The rest of Floyd's discog is some pretty good prog.

>>65568314
Really good folk/lo-fi romp that you can tell the main guy, Jeff Mangum, put a lot of effort into.

>>65569458
Amazing semi-concept work, there's a lot of glam and orchestration mixed together to make something beautiful. If you like this, check out Hunky Dory and Low.

pic related for me, I've had it on in the background once or twice but I haven't really delved deeper.
