I don't think Nick Drake should count, as those were his only three albums.

Black Sabbath albums are great, but it should be

Personally, I highly rate Meddle over animals, so Meddle > DSOTM > Wish You Were Here

Bowie spot on
Dylan spot on
Velvet spot on

I'm gonna throw out:

Led Zeppelin IV > Houses of The Holy > Physical Graffiti
>>
>EVOL - Sister - Daydream Nation
>>
>>65546436
I don't hate Roger Waters. I don't dislike the Wall either, but you have to really have shit taste if you think that anything on the Wall can lift a finger to the musicality on Animals. It's a great album but the whole rock-opera format restricted dave gilmour and rick wright's performances for the sake of making sure the story and lyrics were in the forefront, rather than all their previous albums where every aspect fit together organically.

It's just not a Pink Floyd album, it's a Roger Waters album with Pink Floyd and a bunch of really good studio musicians backing him.

There was a pretty good album between CTM and TSB that you're omitting.. The Flaming Lips have some truly great albums (Embryonic, The Soft Bulletin, Clouds Taste Metallic, Zaireeka, Heady Fwends.) but they never have been able to be consistent with their quality.. and honestly that's probably working out in their favor. These "trilogies" posted in this thread all seem to mark a creative peak for a band/artist that they'll never live up to. Talk Talk and Swans "trilogies" were wisely their closers

I think Camembert Electrique is better than any of the trilogy individually, if you count Continental Circus as being recorded after camembert (i don't, partially because it was a soundtrack, partially because it was recorded BEFORE Camembert Electrique) CC stands on its own pretty damn well and I think Camembert Electrique, Continental Circus, and the Flying Teapot (or my choice, CE, FT, and Angel's Egg) are better than the trilogy.

Yes uses a weird synth effect in Tormato that sounds like a spaceship and then the guitar tries to mimic it, then later they try to mesh those sounds and its perfect. Yes may have slowly run out of good melodic ideas but their attempts at texture were incredible sometimes.

that band is dope in its way but i just cannot take it seriously

different guy but now i'm really cringing yeesh
>>
>>65552667
fuuuuuuuuck that
... although actually i don't know what i would say instead. not a lot of rappers manage to pull off three great releases in a row. ironman>supreme clientele>bulletproof wallets still beats it even though bw fell off
>>
>>65552667
i would literally take slim shady lp> marshall mathers lp > eminem show over kanye

Uhm... you're all wrong if you don't realize that it's obviously Leviathan/Blood Mountain/Crack the Skye.

Subjectively everyone will have their pick, but objectively it's right up there in the the top 10 of all time.

Top 1 for me,too.

Tonight I went from listening to The Glowing Man on my Sennheiser earbuds to my reliable Grado headphones (with one incredibly annoying cord), and what a world of difference it makes, even to the sober mind (having rolled my last spliff yesterday, I swear to no smoking beforehand, as I am wont to do with Swans in particular).

Melodically, harmonically, texturally, structurally, this is by far the most complex Swans album to date, as the more abstract sections of Piece of the Sky & The Seer (re dulcimers and bagpipe collages), Toussaint (re gory guitar gashes) only hinted at. Some call this lighter than the previous two albums, and thanks to the prominence of major chords, it does have levity otherwise lacking in the first two of the trilogy that The Glowing Man completes.

Case in point: listen to the reworking, in The Glowing Man, of the intro to Bring the Sun. Whereas BTS had two major changes sonically, that I remember, the referring section in TGM has maybe seven or eight distinct harmonic transitions, some of which I admit to not hearing immediately on my earbuds.

The epics here seem to function in fits and starts, like death throes or fever dreams, whereas those on The Seer are all about he slow buildup and slow decay of energy, and those on To Be Kind are about sustaining energy.

I'm inclined to agree that this a damn powerful trilogy, even though Paralytic Stalks in my favorite album

Violator - Songs Of Faith And Devotion - Ultra

Their albums from the late 80s still contain some goofy/kitschy tracks.

This will probably be an unpopular opinion, but if Hours weren't crammed in the middle - then Outside, Earthling, and Heathen would be the ultimate "Later Bowie" trilogy

People's Instinctive Travels > Low End Theory > Midnight Marauders

Definitely beats Kanye's trilogy desu
