I'm writing a paper comparing the stylistic origins between Detroit Techno and Chicago House. As these two genres emerged at roughly the same time, in roughly the same place (mid-west US) and by the same demographic of people (middle class African-Americans), I was interested to see why exactly these two musics sound different.
If anyone has read any interesting articles highlighting the differences between the development of either genre, scholarly or not, I would greatly appreciate if they could link me to these sources.
