what's her name

No band has ever gotten known without some kind of "viraling"

I think they would prefer the popularity over some kind of lessened reputation anyway

What the fuck would even compel you to share obscure finds with the often underage, often retarded fucking idiots that linger this board.

These people don't deserve to be spoonfed. That's why I intentionally avoid all chart, RYM, and last.fm threads, because I never want anyone here to know what I listen to, lest some retard decides on a whim snatches one of my finds, enjoys it, and starts adopting my tastes. Fuck that.

If these people care about music half as much as they care about their goddamn memes, they'll find good shit on their own.
>>
>>65516396
*decides on a whim to snatch
>>
>>65516396
yeah fuck introducintg interesting artists to new people. much better to make smug posts in every thread. really helps the board.
>>
>>65516453
this
>>65516396
you dumb fuck. you don't even care about music, you care about "taste"
>>
>>65516453
You read my post; that much is clear. For whatever reason, though, you're spouting and presenting arguments that I addressed in anticipation.

>introducing interesting artists to new people
New people that are often retarded and/or underrage. New people that litter this board with memes from which there is no goddamn escape. New people that would discover said musicians if they investigated music with half the intensity with which they propagate their fucking memes and satiate their shitposting.

You're a fucking idiot.
>>
>>65516554
Ok
>>
>>65516554
I agree with you on a lot of things but not this one. If I find an obscure artist I like I believe I'm obligated to share their work as much as possible so that one day, as unlikely as it may be, they may be able to support themselves through their art. Plus, I believe good art must be shared, not everyone will like it, but it feels good to me to expose people to new things that could become joyous part of their life.
>>
>>65516554
not him but wow what shitty arguments

>often retarded and/or underage
vocal minority, there are a ton of people who genuinely appreciate recs or shares

>new people that would discover said musicians if they investigated music with half the intensity with which they [..]
again, it's a vocal minority. i don't think a lot of us would be here if we all didn't genuinely love discussing, finding, and sharing music.

also, why would anyone necessarily find some obscure bandcamp release just because they are looking for good music? i'm sure there are sooo many great bandcamp releases that i just haven't stumbled across before
>>
>>65516688
I was really hoping that you were going to disagree with me.

My intent with these posts has been to provoke disagreement. I would like to be proven wrong, to be convinced of your opinion and sincerely want to share music with the people on this board.

>>65516722
This is better. If the exercise is borne through some sort of sacrificial selflessness seeking to serve the greater good, I could conceivably share.
>>
>>65516845
maybe not posting like a complete misanthropic ass might spur more discussion.
>>
>>65516798
>vocal minority
Then the majority ought to start being vocal. Even I make a conscious effort to respond courteously when I receive a recommendation. It's not that fucking hard, just two words and a captcha form.

>i don't think a lot of us would be here if we all didn't genuinely love discussing, finding, and sharing music
You should visit /tv/. More and more, memes alone are compelling people to visit boards they'd otherwise have no fucking place participating in.

>why would anyone necessarily find some obscure bandcamp release just because they are looking
I presume you mean *good bandcamp release?

That's simply a consequence of constant effort. With relentless search, you're bound to find something good, and once that becomes routine, you develop sense of instinct and intuition that help you find good music even quicker.
>>
>>65517018
That's fair. I'm sorry.
>>
I've grown out of posting new stuff on /mu/. People here don't seem nearly as interested to find new music as they used to be.

Then again, maybe I am just old and cynical.
>>
>>65516257
if you had I would post the screenshots of the same thing that show multiple posters trying to talk about the album while being erroneously censored. I talk to RUI all the time on slsk and he thinks this shit is hilarious. I showed him that thread and he said he was gonna start viral posting all the time.
>>
>>65516158

>>
>>65517366
No this isn't rose spectacles, /mu/ really was more inclined to search for new music on its own, this is the generational shift that has happened between the 2000s and 2010s.

People now have simply become so over saturated with choices, that they can no longer choose for themselves and expect to be spoonfeed. It's why poptimism is a thing. There's no community or any sense to be well versed in anything.
>>
>>65517023
I do agree that people should be more thankful in response to recs. I've been on this board since I was underage, which I should mention was years ago, and my primary use for the board has always been getting recs and giving recs. I've found countless favorite bands thanks to kind peeps sharing some tunes. There are a lot of asswipes on here but as you yourself know as a user, we're not all bad

>the majority ought to start being vocal
argue with that, i agree. i'm just saying you shouldn't assume everyone on /mu/ are unappreciative meme-posting fucks who don't care about music

>You should visit /tv/
I mean yeah memeing is going to happen here, /tv/ is a special case imo. on /mu/ i try to just ignore threads i know are going to be shit. there are still a lot of quality threads and discussions on here desu

>you develop a sense of instinct and intuition that help you find good music even quicker
sure, but that doesn't mean two people with good senses of musical intuition will stumble upon the same music, especially when the music is obscure

when you have good taste, obviously you'll find other people that like the shit that you like, but sometimes you just stumble upon some bandcamp release with no supporters and it honestly is up to you to share it, because it's pretty goddamn hard to find.

i personally appreciate all of the recs in this thread, and may not have been able to find the stuff myself. i'm just a giant proponent of sharing music. if me and my friends find shit we like we just share it with each other, cause we trust each other's tastes
