Only absolute top-tier albums made by women go in here
pic very much related
inb4 somebody posts an album that someone else doesn't like and this thread devolves into another shitstorm of resentful betas beating up on women
Art Angels

As far as indie rock goes this is up there for sure
lemme end it
>>65498013
I've been seeing this posted a lot lately. Maybe mu has finally developed some taste?
Prove me wrong.

My ideal woman
>>65497238
Her albums are curiously hard to find, I'm guessing they've never been reissued/reissued in tiny editions on vinyl.
>>65500523
I usually forget all about them, then every once in a while I'm reminded and I 2006 hard.
>>65499105
this is correct

>woman
The best
>>65499050
Idk what this is, but judging by the cover its pretty patrician.
One of my favorite jazz albums desu
>/mu/ won't understand this
Hynde's fucking great, and she's pretty much wholly responsible for what makes this album as good as it is.

>>65502255
Not even an album, but this is a 10
>>65504161
yeah but pop is p cool
>>65504215
im not saying it isnt
>>65504161
Come on, W H O K I L L is ace and Marry Me is very musically interesting and eclectic. I agree on the Grimes album though.
>>65504161
>also did u know sometimes women make music that isnt pop wow right
>st vincent
>only pop
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIL6dN1GR8Y
i'm not even going to start posting all of her songs that are not pop, too long. Even in Marry Me, there are songs that are not pop
>>65504335
Not him but most of her stuff kind of boarders on pop and rock, though her live shows are kind of another story with how much distortion she throws in. And while I like her I can't stand the amount of people that always post Krokodil to try and make some kind of point. It's literally 2 songs from half a decade ago.
>>65504335
its alright
marry me is just definitely not a top tier album by a woman desu, im not even saying its bad
though it is dated
>>65504312
>W H O K I L L is ace
i can't believe you tricked me into trying to listen to her again
epitome of le qUiRkY indie~~
>>65504476
Yeah I kind of agree. I still like a few of Tune Yards' songs but I don't really get the hype still.
>>65504476
>le qUiRkY indie~~
Nice musical analysis
thread is shit because someone posted hounds of love before the dreaming
>>65503038
Posted the wrong CM album, but that one's very underrated and close enough
>>65504627
There are some great albums on there
>>65504672
Yeah, and he chose for most of them their best work
>>65504426
Meh, i agree that it is not her best album, strange mercy and actor are much better even tho for some reason people like scaruffi rate marry me as a great album, he gave it a 7.5 which is very very good for scaruffi.
But saying st vincent only makes pop...
>>65504386
I understand you but krokodil grot is the obvious example because it is no wave/noise rock. But there are other songs in her albums that are not pop, tho yeah she mainly makes chamber pop or art rock or whatever the fuck you want to call it.
Hopefully she releases an album soon and uses all of the noise/ distortion she has been playing live in it. Maybe she can use some experience from when she was in that noise band back then

>>65504704
If she was going to do a similar album I think it would have been released when her S/T was, not this long after it. Could be wrong though. Hopefully having a new producer might push her in a different direction from where she is as of her last album.
>>65502874
Amen to that!
>>65504627
This should be on there, it's very good
The correct answer
>>65504704
I agree with Scaruffi because in Marry Me, she was trying to showcase many different landscapes with different musical styles, it might me her poppiest release but none of the songs manage to be redundant and static, and they all seem to evolve into something until the very end of the track, not to mention, it showcases her instrumental virtuosity very well (girl can shred desu). Actor is pretty similar, but it seems overall less ambitious. Never got the hype for Strange Mercy, it's too safe and laid back, without the songwriting ability of someone who means to portray a certain macro-cosmic subject like Joni Mitchell or Tori Amos. I still like it though (as with all her work). The only thing I don't get is why Scaruffi gave her S/T a 7.
Sortilegia - Arcane Death Ritual
Modern BM classic as far as I'm concerned.
>>65504627

>Never got the hype for Strange Mercy
I love it because i feel that even thoughit is safer than actor and marry me, she takes art pop/rock to perfection, avery single song is catchy I think its her best album all around and for example the noise section in northern lights isnt that safe anyway.
I feel like marry me is very good but has a few songs that are worse than the rest, landmines and marry me for example. And personally actor is a 10 or 9 album for the first 2/3rds but tje last few songs let me down a littlw bit

Gal Costa-1969 is one of my favorite albums ever, definitely check it out. Alice Coltrane- Journey in Satchidananda is great of course. Joni Mitchell, Lau Mau, and Pharmakon are all good artists, but I don't know their discographies well enough to feel comfortable saying what their best albums are
