the weird frontier between pop and avantgarde
are these guys the saviors of music?

new tune
Wtf is with this thread the meme isn't even funny
>>65490364
if memes had to be funny then /mu/ wouldnt exist
on that note, Blunt's body of work is superior
>>65489927
imo
Ferraro > Blunt = OPN > Arca
all are good tho
Blunt > Ferraro > 0PN > Arca
>>65490591
>>65490633
these guys get it
How is this not considered spam at this point
>>65489916
What are good albums to start with each of these fellas to get a feel for them?
I've only heard Ferraro's proto-vaporwave album
Am I the only one who finds Arca's music really badly mastered
hello 2 years ago
>>65491293
>Ferraro
Far Side Virtual (which you've heard)
>Blunt
The Redeemer
>Lopatin
progress chronologically from Replica to GoD then listen to Rifts and then Dania Shapes if you really want to
there's a good chart of his discography floating around out there
if you like vaporwave try Eccojams
>Arca
for hip hop stuff Stretch 1, for new stuff Mutant
>>65491374
wait shit for Lopatin add Returnal in between GoD and Rifts
>>65491293
OPN:
- Replica
Ferraro:
For his lo-fi stuff I'd listen to
- Night Dolls With Hairspray
For his newer stuff I'd listen to
- Skidrow
Dean Blunt
- The Redeemer
also
- Babyfather - BBF Hosted by DJ Escrow
is worth checking out for some experimental hip hop
Arca
- Stretch 2

opn is played out
every normie knows who he is now
>>65491342
this. all of them are past their prime.
>>65491589
still doesnt mean hes not noteworthy or innovative
>>65491654
not blunt
>>65491654
GoD was great you troglodyte
>>65491714
it was half okay. pulled to much from r+7 in terms of how the tracks were composed.
>>65491680
hype williams will always be his apex. he got close with narcissist ii and redemeer but this wanna be badman/grime mc schtick is less successful.
>>65491654
this is objectively wrong. god was a huge success, bbf was great, mutant was great, ferraro just released one of his best tracks yesterday
>>65489927
switch Arca and Blunt
Arca is a hack
that new Babyfather album does suck hard tho
>>65492697
>one
No his BEST track
>>65491891
black metal ruled pretty fucking hard though
OPN>Dean Blunt>James Ferraro>Arca
James>Dan>Dean>faggboi
>>65489916
no timmy hecky?
>>65495164
he's oldschool
>>65495164
too old
this is for the next generation of dank bleep bloopers
>>65495151
correct
why do people shit so much on arca? is it just a meme?
I feel like actress should be added to this list
>>65497654
didn't he retire?
>>65497654
no, holly herndon should though
>>65492697
Ehhh I don't know that it's his BEST track. It's p. good though.
and yet none of them have topped aphex twin
>>65499092
she's done two albums, neither of which are particularly interesting
I think she might do something fantastic in the future though
>>65499176
Lopatin has
RDJ isn't even the best of the 'big 4'
>>65499280
IA, she has major potential. Also her live show is great.
>>65499303
>Lopatin has
>>65499373
he's at the very least matched RDJ's best work
fite me
>>65489916
bruno mars > mac demarco > eddie murphy > filthy frank
>>65499396
agreed
>>65499396
lol you gotta be kidding
>>65501821
nope
>>65489916
OPN > Blunt > Arca > Ferraro
>>65490048
this is nice
Nicolas Jaar is more important than any of those save OPN. I haven't listened to Pomegranates so don't bother telling me if that's good or not, on the strength of his Remixes alone Jaar beats out Ferraro
Arca's just getting started and Ferraro's been around forever and he released a lot of garbage, honestly I'm pleasantly surprised he had a breakthrough record because there's a lot to sift through otherwise
>>65505238
jaar has nothing to do with any of these. now go back to your p4k approved hellhole
>>65505274
>OPN
>Arca
>not totally P4K approved
stop acting elitist
>>65493214
t. American
>>65505274
>>65505315
what he said
OPN and Arca have both scored BNM on p4k
Are you trying to say it's not weird enough to qualify or something?
>>65505315
>>65505337
Jaar does straight up dance music most of the time. How's he related to any of the artist in the OP at all?
fuck off
>>65505421
I don't think Jaar is related to the artists in the OP - was mostly just replying to that insipid and myopic P4k comment.
>>65505434
but he's a p4k approved babby. he made his career out of that 9.x review they gave him
>>65505238
>Nicolas jaar being better than anyone else and even more ferraro who is the best out of these four artists
holy shit turbopleb please stop posting.
>>65505443
um, no. you obviously don't follow dance music.
>>65505447
But I do. He's an above average producer that was turned into "important" figure because he makes "elegant" dance music and has a pretty face. This is the type of dance producers p4k offers patronage. He isn't leading any of the fields he dabbles in.
>>65505445
ferraro is like the sun city girls of electronic music. and I like sun city girls but that's not a compliment
>>65505493
of course you do, they're hacks just like jaar. ferraro has nothing to do with any of them
>>65505493
like i said already please stop posting youre just embarrassing yourself
>>65505488
pitchfork didn't make his career - he'd been hyped over at ra and xlr8r and fact and other dance music publications since 2008. if anything his bbc essentials mix got him tons of exposure. by the time he got that 9+ in 2013 he was already a pretty big name in the dance scene.
i'm honestly not even a big fan of his (i find him a little safe and boring) but saying p4k gave him his career is simple incorrect.
new Ferraro sounds like Reich
What is the best thing Ferraro has ever done and why is it pic related?
>>65507563
after primavera its the best digital yes but overall even the worst lofi(there no bad) is better.
>>65491589
So what
>>65508737
Agreed. Marble Surf is his best,
OPN > Blunt > Arca > Ferraro
>>65489916
yes
>>65489927
yep
>>65491509
>experimental hip hop
more like post-ironic grime mixtape
the hip hop isn't really anything special, nor does it seem like Dean wanted it to be. (the run from Greezebloc to Motivation is kind of catchy though)
The only tracks where it feels like he actually tried are God Hour, N.A.Z, Deep and Snm, and those are barely hip-hop.
