>tfw /mu/ will never give a fuck about funk and soul apart from that one Marv album and p4k PBR&B
Don't be silly, we love your music

>p4k PBR&B
6.0
Ok, we praise this album you have delivered us in the highest and look forward to hearing some very good funk
YOU CAN TELL BY THE WAY I USE MY WALK
>complaining that /mu/ never talks about funk and soul
>posts a Charles Bradley reaction image
Charles Bradley isn't even that bad, but all this regressive soul that just copies stuff perfected in the 60s and 70s is pretty boring. if I have to choose between that and PBR&B I'd go for the latter.
You should be ashamed of yourself for valuing a 4channer's judgment.
>tfw /mu/ will never give a fuck about Caribbean music apart from that one Exuma album and Bob Marleys - Don't Worry, Be Happy

It's because of rockism and the stigma against compilations it causes. That's why Marvin Gaye, PBR&B, and a few George Clinton albums get discussed.
I love funk and I occasionally try to start funk threads. They rarely take off.
I think this>>65479481
might be one reason. There are some absolutely fantastic nigerian funk compilations out there.
Well, I thought it was because I was already pretty damn funky
Nah, it's that it's a simplistic music and all the best catches had been bought up by the 80s

More like this???

Same could be said about 90% of the music /mu/ talks about post-80s
I don't give a shit about funk, but I LOVE soul. Charles Bradley is great - he's like if James Brown had learned from soul singers like Otis Redding.
What do people think of Algiers? The instrumentation is gothy electro post-punk, but the vocals are all soul and gospel.

I know, sad isn't it. Still, if we won't stick to the generals...

Doesn't help that every thread about it either dies after a couple posts with youtube links or gets hijacked by weedposters getting in because "muh rasta drug culture"

yep, a musician friend of mine has been on this funk/r&b phase for the last year or so and naturally he's a massive stoner. it's pretty sad desu.
Hmm, I don't like funk, but I love both soul and punk-funk...

This?

>one person you know

>>65479481
>few George Clinton albums
>not only Maggot Brain
>>65481235
there's nothing inherently wrong with being a stoner, it just sucks when someone talks incessantly about "420 culture" and bullshit like that
>>65481667
they usually get over it
if they're not over it by 23, though, you should probably sever ties with them - by that point they're a loser with nothing interesting to contribute.
Smoking pot is fine, but making it a notable interest only says bad things about you.

I listen to funk, soul, r&b as well as reggae, dub and lots of Caribbean music and haven't touched drugs since high school apart from tequila.
