Not anon, but Ayn Rand was a penny-ante philosopher who's concepts were shamefully underdeveloped. She refused to break down the predicates of many of her statements (""""objectivism"""") and therefore had trouble seeing beyond her own ego. Objectivism, in many ways, is essentially anti-philosophical, given the fact that it does not encourage critical thinking beyond her own half-cocked concepts (she refused to debate other philosophers because she was a coward who knew that she was a dipshit and couldn't hold her own)
For an example, her statement "the noblest human endeavour is the pursuit of happiness" is an extraordinarily simpleminded judgement that shouldn't take long for someone who's a bit more intellectually sophisticated to poke holes in. Not to mention the fact that she was an unabashedly selfish cunt.
Having that said, I'd say that the Ayn Rand of music would be someone like Devendra Banhart. He's mostly an irrelevant musician who makes hackneyed music, and his sense of self-importance seems to be grossly inflated. Yet he managed to make a name for himself because he's an ambitious person who's also stylish, and says flaky shit that ignorant people gobble up.

This was a pretty shitty meme until I saw the rainymood thing in the bottom right. Nice touch.

came to the thread to post this
>>65450835
I don't think a band whose entire discography is "GOVERNMENT MIND CONTROL MAKE THE RICH GIVE TO THE POOR" and libertarianism go together.
>>65450490
How has nobody posted Tool yet?
It's obviously the correct choice
>>65451378
>horrendous tripe
You're from America I'm absolutely certain
>>65452128
Why is Daft Punk fedoracore? For some reason I agree but I can't articulate why I think so.
>>65453854
This thread is only fun while people pretend it's not Rush. Because it's obviously Rush.
>>65452074
Objectivism is not intended to encourage critical thinking. I see it as more of a means to come to oneself with the world and the importance of the individual compared to that of the collective. I think she has some good stuff, but I'm by no means and objectivist either. Granted, I am somewhat libertarian, but I think her opinions on charity are even a bit much for me.
Also, I really hated how she tried to downplay the influence Nietzsche had on her writings, even though Howard Roark and John Galt are obvious ubermenschen.
>>65455781
Then again, I've always seen objectivism as somewhat existentialist.
>>65453905
>uses words like tripe
>you're from America
I sincerely doubt your understanding of American culture and common vernacular
>>65454420
I love Rush but this is painfully true.
>>65456368
not really, most of the rush fans i know are very liberal
