Their second album was fucking terrible so I decided to only ever listen to the first one and EP. Do they still do glam rock bullshit?
Also OP how about actually contributing to your thread instead of waiting for other people.

Cause for Alarm
Artificial Peace
Void
Necros
Project X
Rotting Out with the white singer (This is Just a Life/Vandalized)
Rudimentary Peni
Scream

>>65430439
Oh and Faith is really good and similar too. Get Subject to Change though and not their stuff on the split w/ Void; they're pretty bad there
>>65430494
>Oh and Faith is really good and similar too
which is Ian's brother who also produced and appears on it

i like this stuff and am from chicago, any more modern stuff i should check out? i'm new to this
>>65440515
do you want them to be from chicago or just any modern hardcore?
>>65440547
i dunno i figured there'd be a certain chicago style to look out for but anything you'd recommend. i like a lot of post-punk and post-hardcore but am not really deep into modern punk and hardcore

Also check out beach impediment and lockin out records. They don't have bandcamps. That should keep you busy for a while.

These days you no city has any particular style. You will find a healthy mix of everything pretty much anywhere you go.

Forgot this one. A personal favorite.
Check out Higher Power for sure.
Every time I listen to /mu/ tier Hardcore
it sounds like metal :/
>>65441103
There is no /mu/ tier hardcore. Like 5 people here listen to it.
>>65441103
There's a lot of crossover. it's been happening since like 1986 so its not really anything new.
>>65441262
exactly the only people on here who listen to it listen to border line metal
>>65441103
if you want non-hardcore hardcore go to the noise rock threads
not even trying to sound snooty or like an asshole, i really mean that, i go there too for other types of releases
This album is dope
>>65441419
Do you listen to much of either genre? I don't have a hard time telling the difference.
I probably do half of the actual sharing of punk albums on this site though and I do post a ton of crossover so I can see where you are coming from.

Anyone going to Rebellion festival this year? What you think of the lineup??
What do you all listen to for "modern punk rock"?
Other than bands like Bass Drum of Death and together Pangea, this is one of the only REAL hardcore groups I had the privilege to see live. They have kind of a similar sound to Negative Approach and are definitely influenced by D-Beat and Thrash Metal. The lead singer chick is cool too. I love their breakdowns, especially on this track:
https://torsoxvx.bandcamp.com/track/pigeonholed
Everyone should listn to this, it won't disappoint
Been listening to Drive Like Jehu lately, they were fucking great.
>>65443481
Bass Drum of Death is good, but I would class them as more garage than punk.
>>65443544
They're not punk, nor are they garage rock, they're actually Garage Punk, it's a relatively new movement that saw it's heyday with this guy
>>65443481
Bass Drum of Death and together Pangea are good bands but definitely not hardcore punk.
With that out of the way, some cool bands from the last few years:
https://hardwarerecords.bandcamp.com/album/nuclear-spring-s-t-7 (I love those guys)
https://blindsideusa.bandcamp.com/album/wave-of-regret
https://cerce.bandcamp.com/album/cerce (sadly disbanded)
https://divided-minds.bandcamp.com/
https://wearedangers.bandcamp.com/album/anger
https://thegoodthebadandthezugly.bandcamp.com/album/anti-world-music
http://krimewatch.bandcamp.com/releases (v new, v promising)
https://lavidaesunmus.bandcamp.com/album/coups-blessures-7
punk is hard to find in mainstream publications, but if you start digging you will basically never run out of material
>>65443481
Its hard to find decent modern punk really, pop punk dominates the fucking landscape on the radio/tv.
The hybrids are better in my opinion, apart from Bass Drum of Death, I would add Parquet Courts and Eagulls as having that punk vibe to them and dont suck balls
>>65440617
Bands from Chicago that have a signature Chicago style that hasn't been replicated or duplicated would be the following
Articles of Faith
Naked Raygun
The Effigies (The "Remains Nonviewable" compilation is their best)
Bhopal Stiffs
Life Sentence
Out of Order
The Beer Nuts
Rights of The Accused
Savage Beliefs
Los Crudos
There are a lot of punk bands in Chicago, but these bands, I believe have a unique sound/style of their own which can't be found anywhere else. If any band has a "Chicago Sound" this would be the list to start with.
I always thought Mika Miko could have done more, but the fucking broke up.
Anyway this was a solid early 90s riot girl like punk song.
