I went from some that I listened to, and some that I heard were critically acclaimed, and some based on what's popular around here. What did I miss? What doesn't deserve to be up there? Why?
Get rid of Chvrches and Grimes. Put something by Solex in there.
Also get rid of Adele and Beyonce. I imagine you're going for good music.
Add Cocteau Twins?
>>65402878
They're in there. is there another essential(key word) album by them I should add? Or should I replace the one there?
>>65402923
Whoops. Mb. Treasure is good. Heaven or Las Vegas would work as well.
The runaways s/t?
Something by the Breeders too maybe
>that chart
women are literally a meme
>>65402968
I added that one as well, since it seemed to have a following as well
Jefferson Airplane albums are mostly filled with Paul and Marty songs so I don't think that really counts. Similarly I find it difficult to vouch for any of the other albums here that are by mostly-male bands with female singers.
This should have:
- Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and/or Sarah Vaughan
- Nina Simone, PLEASE
- Throwing Muses
- Siouxsie and the Banshees (although the Banshees are all men aside from Siouxsie)
- The Slits
- The Raincoats
- Bikini Kill (and more riot grrrl in general)
- lots of obscure folk-ish singer songwriters from the 60s and 70s, at least Vashti's there so you've got that covered
- Geek the Girl by Lisa Germano, that one's real popular around here
- Neko Case
- Lucinda Williams
- Something with Mary Timony in it
- Grouper is really fucking popular on /mu/ and needs to be here
- Madonna, Cyndi Lauper
Too tired to think of more.
>>65402731
>no nina simone or billie holiday
>>65403962
Not necessarily female-led, though the chart indicates that. How about also bands where a female member also made significant contributions the the songwriting, sound, etc?
>>65402731
Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill
Erykah Badu - Baduizm
>>65403962
Also:
- Fiona Apple
- Cat Power (although I don't really like her)
- Electrelane (who I like a hell of a lot)
- Marissa Nadler
- Shiina Ringo
- Betty Davis
- Alice Coltrane
- Enya? We like Enya, right?
>>65404272
Shiina Ringo and Fiona Apple are not working from the site I'm using, unfortunately. I'll post a pic of what I have so far. I'm trying to get a top 100. I think I'll be somewhere around 90 after all these recommendations
It's not letting me download the picture right, so I took a screenshot.

Lizzy Mercier Descloux
Neneh Cherry
Salt n Pepa
Nara Leao

Grace Jones
Francoise Hardy

Whoever made this is such a fucking pleb it's pathetic.
>essential women-core
>chvrches and grimes
What an insult to female musicians.
>>65404901
I added them because they seemed to have a following aside from their cancerous /mu/ waifufags
>>65404876

>>65402731

>>65405199
Jessy Lanza*
OP, what site are you using for this?
>>65405199
>Ichiko Aoba
Yes yes yes, just listened to those albums a while ago, absolutely add her
Is there a site that will let me make a list bigger than 100? The site I'm using only goes up to 100
This is the current list. I hadn't gotten to every post, so not all suggestions are here.
wtf no Teenage Jesus
>>65405322
Maybe you should exercise a little judgment and decide which of the suggestions is actually worth putting in a top 100.
Sarah Neufeld
First Aid Kit
>>65405341
When you lay it out like that, you see just how lackluster it truly is.
>>65405221
>>65405221
https://topsters2.herokuapp.com/
alternatively, one can use
https://www.neverendingchartrendering.org/
I can't tell what's worse, the idea or the execution of the idea.
That said OP is a fucking failure.
>>65405436
Work in progress, famalam
>>65405441
thanks
>>65405447
I get it, I'm a pleb, which is why I wanted ask around here to make a list.
>newsomeme
where's sandy denny?
sandy is a loved folk singer that for some reason isn't too popular on this board. She was the singer in groups like fotheringay, the strawbs and later fairport convention, but her solo albums are the best imo.
Gotta say, /mu/, I underestimated you guys. I thought this list was gonna be shorter and easier to make since you guys don't even talk about a good majority of the artists mentioned here.
Melody's Echo Chamber
Sutari
Miranda Lee Richards
The Weather Station
Also, I'm just throwing it out there, you don't have to put it up, but we do have Tegan and Sara threads every Monday. And they are pretty good.
>>65406455
I'll add them somehow. I'll have to divide this list by genre or something
>>65402731
All day every day
Cibo Matto - Viva! La Woman
Dolly Parton - Jolene
Dusty Springfield - Dusty in Memphis
Grace Jones - Nightclubbing
Madonna?
Midori - Hello Everyone
Missy Elliott - Miss E... So Addictive
Sleater-Kinney - The Woods/Dig Me Out
St. Vincent - Strange Mercy or s/t
Ike & Tina Turner - Workin' Together
>>65402731
Holy Fuck this is so bad. Add the Sundays in there.
