How come 80s pop songs never ended? They just kept going and faded out eventually with no real ending.
it represents life itself
Because they were so good there was no place to stop. Just like the Cliff Burton chromatic intro on For Whom the Bell Tolls.
Probably wanted to avoid doing cheesy 70s-style Big Rock Endings, without sacrificing the epic quality of the music.

man that is a pet peeve of mine. I treat the end of a song just like the intro or the chorus. it is PART of the song. a great ending makes the song even better. to fade out is to cop out. goddamnit I fucking hate fade outs. at least switch it up a bit, anything but the repetition into infinity of the last few bars

>implying life doesn't have an ending.
It was just a trend a lot of people jumped on. Nothing more.

so the dance mixes were easier to make

Is that true

possibly
why put the effort into remixing a song so it has no end when you can just take off the fade
The chorus of Don't You Want Me is the worst part of the song.

lay off the gruberhof! that's my private reserve
That always made me sad as a kid for some reason.

Because radio.
They were made to be played on the radio o once you reach the 3 minutes mark, nothing matter that much since nobody is going to hear it so you might as well just repeat the chorus to pad the albu's length, and fade out after a while.
