Deathcore doesn't have what I like in death metal, I like my death metal to be raw and filthy which deathcore doesn't do for me. The brutal bands sound childish, the progressive bands take even more what I love out of death metal and the melodic bands are just badTBDM clones. I can at least tolerate the early 2000's one that were way more on the hardcore side than metal one. With djent the same problem arises from the bands that try to be heavier, instrumental djent bands/artists noodle around in a way I find annoying and the more progressive bands I find annoying. I can dig Tesseract's second record because it's really just pop with odd time signatures (and some goddamn good hooks) which beats faux-aggressive/wanky nonsense any day of the week for me.

Opinions are opinions and are merely subjective when evaluating whether music is good or bad hence why so many people have different ones. Let's take one opinion of mine that I'm sure many people here share, I believe death metal should be raw and dirty because it compliments the tone of music. Some people don't like that and have no problem with well produced death metal bands who use pro-tools and digital mastering to the fullest extent possible, they believe quite the opposite and think that with improved recording equipment and better mastering that death metal has improved with this shift to much cleaner and clearer production values. Which of us are right, from an objective nature on death metal, is death metal better my way or their way?
